Can You Shorten The Table Legs?

The Missus has come up with an idea, and I'm not sure how to make it happen!
The table in our Rig sits in front of the couch. She would like me to obtain a shorter upright, so that we can assemble a "plug-in Ottoman", for when we're relaxing in front of the TV.
Does anybody have an idea of where I can get an upright cut and swaged to the proper diameter? Or (even easier): just buy one of the correct height?

Got a Marine Surplus store nearby? They may have one.

You might even get by with getting a piece of PVC pipe from Lowes or Home Depot that you can cut to the proper length and spray a color the Missus likes.

Our boat came with two pipe lengths for that exact purpose. Find the brand or manufacturer and Google their products. If no short one is available, buy another long one and have it cut down.

Thanks Guys!
I guess that I'll have to track down the Manufacturer...
This leg is reduced in diameter at both ends in order to fit into the hardware on the table and the floor...
I wonder where I could get it swaged; if I cut one to the correct length?

Since you have the double tapered leg, you could cut it in the straight section and reattach with a sleeve inside. I'd try doing it at the top end to be hidden by the table top. A machine shop could do this. It's easier and neater to find a shorter length.

edit: google search sez it may be a Detmar product, but only in 26" ??? https://www.detmarcorp.com/tableslr.htm

Do you think that a muffler shop might be able to swage the tubing?

I would contact Tiffin and get the supplier contact information. I'm sure they will have what you need or can make it for you at a reasonable price. Do it once and do it right. Any modification would weaken or at least look funny. I just noticed from your picture that the tube is oval shaped. The supplier would be my only option if it were me.

Bob- My table post is made by Springfield, is also tapered on both ends and I have not been able to find a shorter version. My Siesta has a socket for the table for use when front chairs are rotated into the cabin and a shorter post would be ideal. I don't think the post can be turned down and posts at the dealer and West Marine are thin metal and not tapered..
Good luck -

This is starting to look like it's not going to be an easy thing to accomplish.
I'll ask again: Has anybody tried asking a muffler shop, if they can swage down one end of the leg; to the proper diameter?

Do an internet search. They readily are available from 18 to 31 inches. Maybe others. Try Dyers RV.

Thanks!
With all of the snow & sleet that we're getting: it's a good day to do some "Internet Hunting".

EDIT: They had exactly what I was looking for:the 18" leg!
Thanks again!

Bob- My table uses a "Springfield Marine" leg, it is 2-3/8 diameter heavier aluminum and tapers to 2-1/4 at the socket. Dealer had thin metal legs in various lengths that were crimped to taper. I found Springfield legs here- may be what you are looking for.
https://www.greatlakesskipper.com/bo...es/table-posts

Some twist to lock, some have lock pins, mine are tapered both ends and push into socket.
hope this helps

I 'v done quiet a few at my muffler shop in vegas…. most all the ones between the front seats are too high, what we do is cut a section out and re weld the tapered part back on.... then just spray paint it silver... that's a different type of swedger … ,pretty sure its a roller and makes it cone shaped

We pick the Tiffin up on the 30th... We're just getting our "ducks in a row" right now.
I will definitely let everyone know how this works out.
