Where Would You Go For THIS??

Who ever thought that anyone would sell an RV that didn't have a 12-volt plug up in the dash?

Or who would be dumb enough to not check; before buying one?

So would you go to your RV Dealer... or to a Ford Dealership that has the capability to service a large rig?

I guess that depends where you're comfortable taking your rig and are you talking "lighter" style plug-in or an actual 12 volt receptacle? Lighter style any auto shop should be able to do, one hole , fused power lead and a ground. If receptacle style I'd stay with an RV shop especially if an inverter is involved as it will mean tapping into coach circuits.

any customization or 4wd truck shop can easily do it - and it doesn't have to 'fit' in their bay - they'll have it installed and wired in less than 30.

I've got a really lousy Camping World about 45 minutes away...
A really GREAT Ford Dealership that about the same distance...

And another Ford Dealership at only a 20 minute trip... But I wouldn't take my worst enemy's car to those fools!
I think that they hired the rejects from Camping World!

Check with the good Ford dealer. Some dealers will work on RV's outside if they don't have large enough bays, others won't. Varies dealer to dealer.

I'd go to Walmart and buy this:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/49997-12V...ries/609922546

Then go to Youtube University to figure out how to connect the 2 wires (If I didn't already know how).

I agree. Anyone on your block can install it. If you do get one on amazon look at the USB / 12 v Combo. Installs the same.

Listen for the kid with the loudest most annoying stereo in the neighborhood. Give him 30 bucks and he'll have it wired up in no time! I installed a second 2 outlet USB in our dash. Then, a 12v cigarette style under the bed side for a 12v fan when boon docking.

Oh, I just remembered something! Look inside the glove box. We have one in there, too...

I for one dislike the old Huge cumbersome 12v plugs. By now you would think all would be USB.

Except USB is 5 volts, although I think you can get 13 volts off a USB 3 outlet.

At one time there was a move to use 1/4" Mono plugs for 12 VDC accessories in RVs. I had a Trailer where lights in the bunk house had an integrated 1/4" jack to use for fans, etc. But that seems to have disappeared.

I do agree. Seems like the giant 12v plug just evolved because of the cigarette lighter size. I like a cleaner wiring look. Just me.
