Thor ACE 29.3 Fresh Water Tank Drain Valve Location???

Hello Everyone - We picked up our new Thor ACE 29.3 about a week ago and are going through all the setting up procedures. I am sanitizing the fresh water system and cannot find the tank drain valve. The manual said it should be located below and near the fresh water fill spout.

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Look under the coach below the fresh water fill sprout. You will see a tube coming through the floor. There may be a drain valve on the tube. If not, you will need to access the area where the fresh water tank is located inside your coach.

On my Axis the drain valve is located inside the coach next to the fresh water tank and is accessed by removing a panel.

There will be two drains, one for the cold water and the other for the hot water side. These are the low point drains.

Hopes this points you in the right direction.

Bruce

I'm thinking it is in the compartment forward of the sewer bay. The one that has the outside shower. On mine there is a valve you can open to drain the tank.

By the way you can turn on the pump and empty it quicker as it will force it out.

Ace 29.3 fresh water tank drain valve location

Hi. I also have a new Ace 29.3 and cannot find the water tank drain valve either. Idlarimore293 did you find the valve?

In the bay where the shower is outside, you will see the pump. There is a line coming from the tank to the pump and should be a drain there. It has a spit ring that you pull up on to drain. Not a fast process

I will post a pic of the location when I get back from lunch if you haven't found it.

Bruce,

Not sure about the new Axis floor plans, but in the original 24.1 there are actually three (3) drains. One directly drains the tank, the other two drain the hot and cold lines.

If you follow that blue waterline to the other side of the pump, there is another drain valve, if you open that one you can use the pump to pump the water out. That will be quicker than draining. But I think the pump is still only 3GPM so if you have the tank completely full it will probably take 15 minutes to pump out.

Is there any place Thor uses that gives you more detail? Like a picture describing valve and function. Just got a 2016 Axis 24.1 and trying to get an overview before we take a trip.

Unfortunately within the RV industry, not just with Thor, owners manuals are very generic due to the mixed array of systems between models.

If you call or email Thor customer service and ask for the fresh water and waste water diagrams for your model they are usually willing to send them to you within a few days. If your request is via email they will usually send the diagrams in PDF format attached to an email response. I requested and received the fresh, waste, Audio Visual and electrical diagrams for my Challenger 37ND.

Your 2016 24.1 may be different, but here are some useful diagrams from Thor.

Outside Kitchen Drain

On my 29.3 with the outside kitchen, there's another drain behind the little false drawer under that outside sink.

I cannot locate the fresh water tank drain valve in my 2015 24.1 Thor Axis. There are no diagrams in my owner's manual.

Take off the passenger side bed mattress, remove the two screws holding the bed panel down, lift off the panel and look underneath.

You will also find the hot and cold water low point drains, fresh water pump with a tube that is capped off and sticking straight up in this location that Jamie mentions. My cover is hinged though instead of screwed down.

Forgot to mention that the tube is for winterizing (I.e. adding pink antifreeze to your water system).

I posted a similar thread concerning my 29.4. Except for the slideout in the bedroom, they are nearly identical. Perhaps you'll find info on my post that will be helpful

All Camping Worlds are the worst. Myrtle Beach, SC especially. Also, I am disappointed in my Thor ACE. Cabinet keepers coming loose due to framing wood splitting and screws coming loose.
