Our City Water Being Shut Off For Repair Tomorrow

We had city workers come around today handing out flyers for some water repair tomorrow. Water shut off to the hood at 8:30a till whenever,,,fill your tubwith water blah blah, which we are doing. I decided to fill the rig parked in the driveway for another source. Got the hose out with the funnel deal for the fresh water tank to fill it up. Turn water on and I have backflush coming out right away from the fill spigot. Not a lot of water pressure. I have a fill tube on the end of hose with a valve to control flow and it’s hardly anything going into fresh take.

Thanks,
JJ

There is/was an issue with some models where the fill hose from the gravity fill port actually loops down a bit before rising back up to the fill bib on the tank. Water pools in the low spot and splashes back as you described when trying to add water. Mine was this way. You have to hold hose in tightly until the pressure starts the water in the low point moving. It was eventually repaired at the factory and now works fine. This is one of the reasons I keep tank full when at the house...you never know when city water may be interrupted.

Cool little device but it won't solve his issue. He needs to force water through the fill hose until he gets the hose leveled out between the outside fill port and where it enters the tank. Thor raised/leveled mine with wire ties so the water gravitates into the tank. If every builder on the floor at Thor were required to go spend 30 days in an RV as a qualification for the job...things would come out the other end of the factory a lot different.

I cut a 3’ section off an old hose so I could run it into fill hose

@LC

I like this idea and will try it out myself.

Thanks,

This worked. I had a bit of backflush at first, maybe a minute or so, then it quit and water flowed into tank.

Thanks,
JJ

You'll still need to get under there soon and level out that fill hose to a gradual grade downward. For the times boondocking, when you just want to pour jugs of water in the tank, the hose extensions won't work as there will be no way to force it through.
