Skylight won't close
We have a 2013 Thor Citation sprinter engine Rv. Our skylight won't close. Checked fuse it's good. Turned on generator and engine doesn't work with those running. Also do you know of a manual al way to close it.

I'm guessing you're talking about the roof vent, if you're "skylight" is open head directly to your dealer.
There should be a knob to close the vent manually.

Those are motor operated. When the motor or brushes go bad there is no way to manually close it. You may want to check the "closed" limit switch to make sure it is not open. That would stop the motor from closing the skylight.

Limit switches are physical switches that interrupt power to the motor when the skylight is fully opened or fully closed so the motor doesn't keep trying to open or close it. Unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with your specific skylight to tell you where they are located physically.

Only way to manually close it, is to take it apart, as its a motor driven shade. I have had mine not work when it gets really hot, must expand and stick. When it cools it works fine, at least so far. Its currently at the dealer having that and many other things looked at, as well as having a bunch of equipment added.

This is the skylight used in the Citation/Siesta sprinter models. Early were powered, and problematic. My 2016 is manual and uses a bar assembly.
The 1st link is The installation booklet covers 2 types of manual operation (Bar or Crank) and electric motor system. Page 9 in that installation document has steps to troubleshoot various problems and info on disconnecting the motor drive.
The 2nd link is more about dis-assembly and replacement of parts.

I skipped right over the first link and only looked at the "repair" manual.

I don't know that they have abandoned the power shade on the skylight. Ours is a 2017 and has a motor driven shade.

Our 2014 developed the same skylight problem. There is a way to manually close it if the switch fails. Pull the switch cover and you will find a square silver "knob" facing down. if you twist that knob with a pair of pliers, you can close the skylight. Not easy, but it works. As a note, my skylight electrical switch system quit because the skylight was leaking water into the switch mechanism. I had the skylight removed to find that Thor had not put any grout or tape under the flanges of the skylight so rain was able to easily get under the skylight underneath the skylight hinges. When my switch mechanism dried out, it started working again??? I eventually had to have the entire skylight removed, the frame rebuilt since Thor cut it 2.5 inches off square, all the insulation replaced and the skylight completely resealed.

Apparently according to the tech, ours would fail when it was hot, IE sun beating on it. He found a connector or ??? at the motor, that was not mounted correctly, said he could easily see how when hot it would not make contact. I haven't seen any of this, only going by his description, but this is a tech that I have had do a lot of things to the Gemini, and has done them well.

Did anyone find out if the electric can be converted to manual? If it can, any leads on the parts kit?
