Water Heater Newbie Issue

Had our 2013 Tuscany out over Labor Day weekend for the first time. Turned on the water heater using propane according to the instructions. The next morning when we showered there was hot water for a few minutes and then not so hot. Tried using the electric element of the water heater and had the same result. Throughout the weekend it went like that; hot water for a few minutes and then it was gone.

Have I missed something (which is a distinct possibility)?

Thanks,
Maureen & Larry

I left my by pass valves set wrong one time after winterizing and had the same thing happen.

Hello,

I recently left Thor Motor coach in Wakarusa IN, it was really cold, the technician turned on the LP and electric at the same time. When I settled in for the night, the red light Fault was on, attempted to research the issue, turned both the LP and electric off, waited for 15 minutes, any idea what may be going on?

LP and electric what? water heater? (the only thing I can think of that has both LP and electric--other than the RV refer but you may have a residential one)

What fault light?

the water heater is both LP and electric, what I found out is that the water got hotter than normal and the water heater shut down, when I say the red fault light, it is the light in the cabinet above the passenger seat. Turned both off and after some time, the water heater came on with the electric turned one without any issues.

Interesting: I'd say there is still something wrong (like a bad thermostat)--we use both gas & electric with our water heater frequently and haven't seen any fault light come on.

Sounds like a bad thermostat or thermal cut off to me. Ours is both electric and LP and we have replaced the piezo wiring 3 times due to the water tank running out and overheating. (Yes, you would think we would learn... at least I now always carry a spare!)

Jpmihalk, how does your heater run out of water? I too have that fear, but it has never happened.
