Zamp Solar?
I recently found out that this Company is a big player in the solar panel marketplace.
Does anybody have an opinion about the quality of their products?

Only thing I know about them is that most Lil Guy T&G teardrop trailers are wired to accept Zamp. But, she' never done anything with it.

Looks like portable suitcase panels as a whole system
The idea being that they can charge more for a “ready to go” package
It’s not for me, and Renogy offers similar set ups at a more attractive price

Yeah I noticed them a couple of years ago. Seems like Renolgy had the beat on prices over so I didnt pay much attention to them since.

They always seem to show up as being highly regarded; but a bit on the pricey side.

I looked at them after seeing James' videos on fitrv.com
He seems like the type to thoroughly research and find quality stuff.
Zamp looks like good stuff to me, but expensive. the only thing I didn't really like is it looks like they have a proprietary connector system, rather than using the type of connector it seems the rest of the solar industry uses.
I went with renogy due to price .....still trying to work my way through my honey-do list to get back on that install project.

Yeah: I also noticed that strange proprietary connection setup of theirs...
It was one of the things that made me wonder...

Talking solar
I want to install Solar on my 31Y. It is wired for solar with 10 gauge wiring from roof to solar controller would be. My question is, if i install 600-800 watts of panels, mono, 60-80a MTTB controller, can the 10 gauge wire handle the load from panel to controller. Seems questionable. If 8 gauge would be better, how would i install the wiring?
Maybe his should be a new thread.
Have 4 12v AGM batteries and 3000w inverter.
Thanks

That is too much current for 10 ga wire, even 8. I would use 6 ga for 80a and wire the panels in series/parallel. If you double the voltage by wiring 2 panels in series, you cut the current in half.
Can’t help with touting. That may be the biggest problem.

Thanks, but in series/ parallel the results is a 24v output. My batteries are 12v. How do theses match?

Furrion does the same thing with their connections. one reason I went with Renology.

Ah, the magic of MPPT controllers. They take 12, 24, 36, 48, etc. volts and convert it to the 12V that the battery needs with minimal losses. And they do it 15-20% more efficiently than a PWM can handle just 12V because they use the full 17 volt maximum power point voltage of the panels.

That sounds like a good reason to throw another vote on the MPPT pile..
