Thor aria winterization

The water pump is not sucking in the antifreeze to the RV.

You have to open a faucet to give the pump somewhere to pump the antifreeze to.

It can't get a prime with the water system sealed up.

We did that in the kitchen faucet. It acted like it was starting to come through but then it stopped.

You also have to make sure your pipe to the antifreeze is sealed and that the valve to the water tank is closed.

Could there be a problem with the pump itself?

That really is unlikely--if it worked ok during the summer there would be no reason to believe something happened to it attempting to winterize.

The Thor Aria manual shows two ways to winterize. The first one says to hook the hose to the water/antifreeze inlet and the pump should pull in the antifreeze from the bucket. We tried that and it did not work. The second way is to put the antifreeze directly into the fresh water tank and then pump it in. Has anyone else tried this second method and did it work?

Winterization

I have used that method for the last 10 years and it also works well. I just uses more antifreeze than the other method. Buy an RV antifreeze pump and a hose attachment , it will take about 3 gallons and then start the pump and go to each tap (hot and cold) and run until it shows pink. I also use a bicycle pump
to clear all of the lines of any water. It usually takes about an hour to do this

With our last two coaches, I just used air to blow out the lines. Worked perfect for 20 years. But I am using the pink stuff with this one because I am worried that with just air I might not get all of the water out of the washer (never had one of those in the RV before). Had no problems getting the pump to suck the anti freeze out of the jugs.

When you put the antifreeze in the bucket and turned on the pump did you open a faucet? You have to have a faucet open for the pump to get primed (otherwise its just trying to pump against a closed system).

You don't ever want to put antifreeze in your fresh water tank, you'll have that taste in your water forever.
