Generators for a 5th wheel trailer

Looking at generators for our upcoming purchase of a Keystone Cougar
30RLI 5th wheel trailer.

I've owned a double set of Honda 2000i units to power our old 2011 Springdale TT and they worked very good to power the A/C etc.

Anybody have experience with the Harbor Freight Predator 2000 generators
cost is half of the Honda and there is also a unit to connect two generators
to run the A/C etc.

I know of several people who have them and they seem to like them. only complaint I've heard is they are a little noisy. I bought the A-1power because they are just like a yamaha Clone. Made in the same factory in China. they are a inverter type Ginny and are about $435 each. Preditor also makes a 3500W one but it is 90 Lbs.

Onan is a very good name. They have 1800rpm units that are quiet and last along time, 3600 rpm units generally are louder (many times by alot). I would go with gasoline, can buy it everywhere, propane not so easy.

My preference is Onan Emerald series. Emerald comes in ( BGD, BGE~4-5.5KW, NHE~6.5kw) or early Marquis with horizontal shaft (BGM ~5-5.5kw, NHM ~7kw). They can be had fairly reasonable and don't have the problems the newer ones have.

They also have electronic voltage regulators ( it prevents high voltage overshoot when a big load shuts off). They do have an issue if you don't run them ~once a month, slip rings get dirty and can kill voltage regulator. So have to clean slip rings before running if stored not runnning for months. But it's what I have, I chose it because of the voltage regulator. I'm not familar with your RV.

I ended up buying a couple of used Honda 2000i generators to run
together for my new 5th wheel trailer the few times a year that we
do not stay in full hookup campgrounds.

I shopped craigslist and found each for about $700 each, did a oil
change and replaced the spark plugs. Fine to go.

Don't be afraid to buy used, just look for one used sparingly and
not all beat up.
