1st Trip with 63000 mile 2014 Windsport 34f

Finally got a chance to go camping for three nights at Arrowhead Park near Macon, GA. DW and I tested all systems and everything worked as expected, in fact, better than expected. I was concerned that the unit had 63000 miles and I was expecting problems.

The RV ran great, but I only got 5.5 MPG for the 220 mile round-trip. The batteries and tires were replaced on this unit in January 2016. I purchased the RV at Camping World in Columbia South Carolina March 2017. The engine oil, generator oil and transmission fluid have been changed.

I had some difficulty bringing in channels on in-motion sat, but I think it got better as I learned more about the operation of the system.

I have appointment with local (Columbus, GA) RV service center on May 8 for any required checks/repairs. I think I will have them check the brakes and suspension, but I do not know what else to have them check. I CAN service the A/C, Hot Water Heater, generator, etc... WHAT ELSE should I have them check?

Thanks everyone...

The least of our concerns is the F53 drive train. We've put 31k miles on our 2015 in 24 months and the V10 is a real horse. The issue that troubles us the most - slides. If the don't go out or they don't come in, you are absolutely unusable. Make sure that the slides operator evenly, check the underside of slides to make sure that the slide runners are wearing evenly, make sure that the slides seal well and are in place. We've bumped up against each of these at some point.

Slides

Excellent point about the slide. This has also been my concern. I will have this checked on May 8th. Thanks

my slide on my 28z has been the bane of my 8 month ownership as well so far. I think some of it is user error, but it does seem to intermittently not work without any focal error codes. Thinking faulty switch but hard to diagnose intermittent electrical problems....

Rick and Jan - like you I feel little concern over plumbing/electrical/chassis issue. Some additional advise about your slides:

1. Know how to "synch" the motors via extending and retracting.

2. Be able to locate the controllers. I've had wires come loose and fail to operate. I've had fuse blown with poor labeling and incorrect routing.

3. If you have Rapid Camp, know where the controller is located.

4. Carry an inexpensive electrical multi-meter to help with troubleshooting.

We've never had an issue that I couldn't work through or fix - it just takes time and some support from Thor to provide some technical assistance and wiring diagrams.

Hopefully you'll have any issues but forewarned is forearmed.
