it's not a design error, but just a normal rv manufacturer floor plan 'give and take' when it comes to where and how access is made for the bath. while most coaches don't have a sofa close to the bath door, your floor plan does, but is only an issue WHEN you deploy the sofa bed.
some manufacturers, such as Newmar, use a 'mid hinge' mid bath door, to help with entry when the slides are in - but ours is a standard hinged door in the hallway, which is tight when the slides are in, but still quite usable.
there are very few coaches, if any, where EVERY item is fully usable/accessible when all options are taken, such as when the slides are in, or when the sofa bed is deployed.
while a 'pocket door' sounds like an option, it's not really feasible in most coaches since it would have to be installed within the wall, where other items such as electrical and plumbing are located.
we traded our beautiful GeorgetownXL several years ago partially for this same reason, we didn't realize that the sofa bed would take up so much room when deployed. for those who don't use it often, it's not a real issue, but those who might use it every night, it can be aggravating. : /
