Is this a factory door lock?

I've been reading about the Axis/Vegas breaking door locks. We just bought a used 2017 Vegas 24.1 and I checked to see if I had one of the bad locks. Mine does not look like any other I have seen here in the forums. Has this already been changed out?

Initial look at what you have appears to be a standard automotive door catch/lock.

Have you ever had any problems with it? It seems this type would not have the zinc bolt that everyone says is easily broken...

No. I have had to adjust it but other than that no issues. ����

We have to slam ours, or pull it hard, but it seems pretty durable...I just don't want to get locked in or out like I read that many have!

If you have an old lock, the internal mechanism is not made out of steel and many have broken leaving no way to get into the MH. The replacement has a steel mechanism. You should not have to slam the lock. If it is installed and adjusted correctly it should close with a gentle push and click. If you have the old model, slamming it will almost assuredly eventually break it, leaving you either in or out of your MH.

This is what I was afraid of. So you are saying even though mine does not have the zinc bold that sticks out the side of the lock, it may still have some poorly constructed in internal parts? Everything I've read seems to point to the locks that have a zinc plunger/bolt sticking out the side, where mine has the claw style system.
Do you know if there is a replacement, possibly a keypad style, that will fit where my current lock does without modification? Thanks!

So I just spoke with Abby at TriMark about my lock. She says I have the 30-900 series lock, which, according to her has not had any of the problems that the other style lock has had. It seems I may need to adjust it since we have to slam the door, but she said the internal parts have been solid on these models. So I don't know if mine has already been replaced since the coach is new to us, but was a used unit. She was very knowledgeable and helpful, even emailed me schematics on the lock.

I have a 60 series 60-650 replaced by a 60-1650 in my 2016 Axis. So Thor must have put a different door lock in the 2017s after all the problems. Good to know. If Trimark says you’re OK then you probably are.

Yep, that was the model she said there had been some issues with. So either they switched the styles in 2017 or the previous owner had it done already. Thanks to all that posted for the help!

Just for those folks that have the original 60-650 or even the replacement 60-1650 door locks, use a small fridge magnet and if it sticks to the main lock plunger (not the deadbolt part) you have steel; if it does not stick you have the zinc (breakable) plunger. The two strike pins are steel its the door plunger that you need to test. The Trimark steel plunger version is one specific part number.....I think it is Trimark #29412-09.
