LED Lights on Awning - only a few light up

So, we are on the long weekend away and extended the awning. We tried the LED lights on the awning roller and only about 20 percent of them light up. Some blink, some are just "dead." This is on our 2016 Hurricane 35C. Has anyone else experienced an issue with their new awning and the LED lights on the roller? I plan to add that to our warranty list, but want to make sure that the expectation is that all of the LEDs should work.

All but one of ours work and not really worry about that one still looks good but yours is way off from being right.

That's what I was afraid of. Oh well, planning a trip to Elkhart later this summer anyway...

In messing with LED lights over the years, many failures track back to voltage over/under (bad/intolerant driver components) and heat. I've had expensive and cheap LEDs fail or go dim over time, enough of each side of the cost spectrum to say price hasn't been a deciding factor for my long term service experiance.

I've watched a single failure in a driver chain seemingly cause accelerated failure to other LEDs in the circuit.

I had 3-4 lights go bad within the first few months. I added it to my warranty list and it was fixed.

We have a 2015 Thor Hurricane 34J. When we bought it and took delivery the awning was broken so we had to bring it back to be fixed . So not knowing there was awning LED lights never turned them on to check them out. Well I talked my Friend into buying a Thor Axis and said wow you have awning LED lights . Well I checked ours and we do to. But I think when they put the awning on the didn't connect the lights.. Problem is the warranty was up in November.. So does anyone know where the lights connect. The switch won't turn them on. Is there a controller some where? Do they connect on the left side of the awning or right side... Any help would be great. I am going to call Thor tomorrow and see if they will help me...

Looking at the awning, the wiring is to the front arm connection. That must be wiring for both the awning motor and the LED strip as there are no wires to the rear arm.

Al working, but the strip is coming undone. Have had to push it back into the track.

Hi,
On my Carefree awning the LED power cable runs up through the materials seam. I replaced my LED's as they were browning out and the gel was discoloring with these:

http://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-Mul...9%3ASUPERNIGHT

Not filled with gel but in a rectangular silicon tube, worked very well. Double the LED's and larger 5050 diodes (150 white/150 RGB) plus all the functionality of color/fade etc. Also at this price if they only last a season, no big deal.

Tex do the this LEDs light strip from Amazon fit in the same track the original light strip. And does the Thor hurricane have the carefree awning?

Hi Bassoneman,
Probably the same brand, mine has a manufactures sticker on the support arms. The light strip I purchased is very slightly wider than the roller channel and sits in it at a angle. But with some 3M double sided tape, seems to stay put and rolls up without problem,

Rgds
Tex.

At delivery one bulb went out; replaced, this year opened up awning and about 20% of the lights are out and few going dim. If it had not been at the dealer for five weeks I might have noticed while it was still in the one year warranty.

How do you replace them?
