Mercedes Sprinter engine switch??

I have a new Class C on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis and I see a switch? or is it a shutoff valve? I cannot find any reference to or information on it in the owner’s manual. Anyone with a sprinter know what this is and what it does?

Please see the attached photos.

Don't have a Sprinter, but: Where is the chassis battery?

To me that looks like a terminal post that you'd connect jumper cables to--I bet that red "cover" comes off revealing the post.

That is a connection post to the battery, which is under the floor on the drivers side. I connect a charger to that connector, and I guess it could be used to jump start it, if necessary.

Engine battery access is through a panel in the drivers step well. Why it's located there is a mystery to me since there's room in the engine compartment.

Batteries do better when they are not exposed to engine heat, so my guess is, that may be the reasoning behind the seemingly strange location, under the drivers feet. There is, indeed lots of room under the hood for the battery, probably even two of them.

Yes that is for jumping the battery. If you twist it to will expose the hot terminal for you to clamp on a jumper wire.
