More Questions on Heater Pads

The rig is definitely prewired for heater pads! How do I determine which pad to buy? AC or DC? I prefer AC because I don't want my batteries to wear down. Should I assume that a fuse has already been installed? I looked at my breaker/fuse box and of course nothing is labeled! D

DC else if you were boon docking you would need to continuously run the gen. You will need to trace those wires from the blanks in the switch panel to the pads and to the fuse panel. They probably share some other circuit. Most likely the wires will have fallen down behind the panel. Will be fun to fish them out. It might be much easier to run new.

Where'd they hide the wires?

One Last Question, I think!

So, there are 4 wires behind my control panel with quick connect clips already on them! The wires by the tanks are easily accessible and encased in plastic conduit already. I'm going to order the pads that "ducksface" recommended on this thread. So my "last question" is this - if my rig was pre-wired for heating pads, did Thor already include a fuse somewhere in the wiring? If so, then it seems like a no brainer to install these pads myself. Would you agree? Am I missing something? Thanks, Donna

Just bought new (2019) ACE. It has tank heaters on all three tanks. I’m more worried about unheated pump compartment. I’d much prefer the heated compartment.

I will have to seriously deploy heaters from time to time. Any experiences on ACEs in seriously cold weather (I live in the Idaho west of WY, not the one many think is “midwest”).

Specifically, do I need to run generator to power heaters on a cold night?

I don’t think so...

I drain and bypass the hot water heater and blow out the lines. Then pump in a little antifreeze for the pump. ACE has connection at pump suction to simplify this.

I have 50 years of RVs and only one freeze in Idaho...where it gets REALLY cold. I forgot to blow a spray pipe on the toilet...never had that before or since. Also, do not forget to blow outside shower and toilet.

My questions are: 1) where can I purchase the actual switch that goes on my control panel? I went to the Thor manual but it says they do not sell parts retail 2) do I need to buy "Thor" heater pads so they will wire into my connectors easier or will any heater pad do? The connectors look like a wire nut. 3) Do I need to order a specific amp heater pad or are they all standard? Any other advice is always welcome! Thanks, Donna
