I like that....Embrace the Suck! Some days it’s all you can do.

Regardless of budget, I’m not aware of any small Class As that compete directly with Axis/Vegas. That’s particularly true of the 24.1 floorplan because of its size being shorter than just about any gasoline Class A in many years. If you like and want that size motorhome, what else is there? Not much.

How about the Fleetwood’s Axon?

We weren't even CONSIDERING a Class A! We thought 100% that we were getting a Class C. It was only when I was doing a search where I told the search engine to show me ALL mh's with rear twin beds that we re-discovered the Axis/Vegas line. (We had seen one really early in our search, but we weren't zeroed in on twin beds yet, at that point.)

Once we actually got inside this unit, and saw it was night and day different from the Thor 25V Class C that we were considering, it simply was a matter of time. Price-wise, similar to a Sprinter chassis, but with a gas engine and chassis that can be serviced in tons more places.

No twin-bed floor plan in that one.

Fleetwood's Axon is on the F-53 chassis and thus is bigger than Axis/Vegas units.

As Jamie stated, the Axion is on F-53 chassis. Dimensions are therefore much larger, like the 102-inch width and 12-ft of height making it similar to much larger motorhomes. Even the length of shortest Axion is longer at 26’-8” than Axis/Vegas 24.1.

What’s missing in my opinion is an even smaller gasoline Class A on an American chassis. The size of the now-discontinued Winnebago Via/Reyo on a Ford instead of Mercedes Sprinter would be a great option to have.

Thor website lists Vegas/Axis 24.1 length at 25’6” (w/out ladder)

I saw one of these at a campground recently
It’s a sweet looking unit
What chassis is the Via/Reyo on?
It was noticeably smaller than my rig

Winnebago no longer shows them on website, so they seem discontinued.

They were built on Mercedes Sprinter with 3.0L V6 diesel, and thus limited to 11,030 pounds GVWR.

Length is about the same as Axis 24.1, but they were listed at 90” wide and 10’-10” tall, making them a few inches narrower and lower than Axis/Vegas.

Even then, there is still a lot of size difference between those Via/Reyo and typical camper vans. I would personally like to see a smaller Class A on a SRW E-Series chassis that was a Hymer clone. Maybe Thor can now tap into Hymer engineering and design an even smaller Class A optimized for smaller couples. My wife and I don’t need 7-feet of headroom in a camper.

For what it’s worth, Ford has manufactured stripped E-Series chassis that would be perfect for a smaller fuel-efficient Class A the size of a Hymer. They were used on step vans in North America. RV designers would just need to keep it simple to keep weight down.

A motorhome the size of this Ford single-rear-wheel step van would be much roomier than vans while still smaller than present NA Class As.

P.S. — Via/Reyo look sharp in part due to rear cap and full body paint, which made them a little more expensive. Mercedes diesel chassis added to cost also.
