Thor's new Super C

Thor posted a video tour of their new Super C today:

(They are posting videos from the dealer's only show this week.)

The first one they walked through is identical to the model I have except they replaced the gas range and oven with the induction cook top...no more oven...no more cornbread. They also moved the bedroom TV from center of foot of bed to the right and brought the wardrobes together. I didn't see a washer/dryer connection either...maybe they eliminated that closet also.

Assume=well you know what that does to you. All Thor A's and C's have very good use of floor plan with slides in...that's the benefit. You can access every feature of that coach with slides in. Trailers have deeper slides and give wider bodies at rest but very little to no use with slides in. I sold my trailer and bought a MH for a number of reasons and that was in the top 5 of them. Got tired of traveling in a pickup truck.

To paraphrase Samuel L Clemens: "The death of Thor's Super-C motorhomes has been greatly exaggerated."

And I've lead that battle with a burning torch based on what they (Thor) told me earlier this year. I was amazed how little it's changed except for the name...combining the Four Winds and Chateau as just one offering.

The stool in the mid-bath has been repositioned. The closet for washer dryer is there but they didn’t mention it. They referred to a king bed but if so, things would be very tight. Mine has a queen bed. In the other model, Not sure the front skylight is a good idea. I liked the one piece cap. Less chance of water intrusion.

Agreed Gritz. We can use everything in ours except the drawers and cabinets in the bedroom. Might be able to use the cabinets except we replaced the lame mattress with one we had just purchased for our trade in.

Okay, maybe I’m missing the obvious (which I am prone to doing) but what is BNG.

They must have improved quite a bit in recent years. Thor made a Class A FRED a few years ago with an overhead bed over the cab area that could only be lowered if the slide behind driver was extended first. In that same unit half the L-shaped kitchen was blocked from use by the slide, so you couldn’t get to sink or most storage cabinets. A quick lunch stop would likely require extending the slide. In fairness, it was a MH built by a newly-acquired subsidiary.

More recently they have many floorplans where the main bed is not useable unless its slide is opened first. For boondocking in places where slides should stay retracted that could be a problem.

Where/how are you finding these so quickly?

I’m curious because at end of video he mentions additional floorplans coming soon, but not sure if he means Super-C only, or other models like Axis or smaller Class Cs.

I don't care for the new position of the toilet in half bath...that must have to do with plumbing. It takes up your floor space. the W/D closet is still there...saw that. The front cap on mine is one piece...I think all the Super C's are but not sure...and the glass window in the front of the front cap...horrible. One big rock and you have a factory OEM specific piece of curved glass you'll need...weeks out. It's only if you don't opt for the front entertainment center, which we did. Bed must be queen...not room with the half bath for a king. I'm just glad to see they've re-introduced it...great floor plan with killer pulling power.

Magnitude and Omni Super C's...identical units. This must be so they can have double the dealers with this floorplan just like the did the Four Winds and the Chateau. Price jumped by $10K also.

Large front cap window appears to serve or double as a second “windshield” for passengers riding in back. One of the few disadvantages of many Super Cs is that rear passengers can’t see the road ahead because cab windshield is much lower.

In the video, however, the front cap window appears a bit too high if passengers were sitting on couch or dinette. It’s hard to tell from video, but it looks like rear passengers would be looking at the sky, not the road ahead. At night it’s probably a great view of the stars.

P.S. — Class Cs of various sizes have been using front cap windows for a long time. This one just went really big in keeping with “Super” image.
