Considering a Four Winds 24FS on 3500 Sprinter Chassis

We are looking at a 2018 Four Winds 24FS on 3500 Sprinter Chassis and trying to get insurance quotes. All of the insurance companies ask if there are airbags and an audible anti-theft system installed. I think I am clear that there are driver and passenger airbags present, but I can not find any information on the anti-theft system.

Online Sprinter manuals as far back as 2007 indicate that an ATA system is factory installed. Do the Four Winds in fact have an anti-theft system?

Welcome to the Forum!
Your Insurance Agent should be able to intercede on your behalf, and explain to the company that the vehicle does has the system.

Also try an RV specific insurance company. I’ve had all of my insurance with the same national brand company for decades. One day I did some checking and found myself miles ahead by switching my antique motorcycle and my RV to (different) specialty companies.

I have a 24FE, very similar to yours. The AT is supplied by Daimler. It’s a good chassis

Thanks and a followup

Thanks everyone!

I do have a followup question. I know in order to save weight (and money) coach finishers are not installing or removing the stock spare tires. The coach we are purchasing does not have a spare. However the coach next to ours on the same 3500 chassis does. When questioned, the salesman said don't be surprised if that one disappears and reappears on your coach. If that happens great, but after loosing several tires in the middle of nowhere over the years, I want a spare. I looked around and found a rim and tires are no problem. However, the mounting cage is not present on our coach. Are there any aftermarket spare tire mounting cages? I have not been able to find one for a 2018 3500. I could go with a receiver mounted tire, but I also want to haul bikes around. I like the spare down under and hidden away. Hopefully, a cage and spare will appear on Wednesday.

It would seem to me that any decent welding shop could build you exactly what you want...
(... Given enough time & money! )

Pete, any specialty companies you've had luck with and recommend?

Try calling specialty agents. I got my antique motorcycle insurance through Haggerty and my RV insurance through Good Sam. They represent several insurance companies and can find you the best deals. Last time I checked Good Sam will even send you $10 just for getting a quote.

As an Insurance Agent with over 42 years of doing this: look for Progressive, Foremost, American Modern, and perhaps State Farm...
They'll give you a good idea of where the pricing should be.

For insurance I use Geico, I found them to be the cheapest (probably we use them for everything else).

As far as your spare tire is concerned. I had a spare factory mounted on my 2011 Itasca Reyo which was on a Sprinter 3500 chassis just like my 2019 Four Winds. However, Thor in their infinite wisdom decided to cut the hinge point for the carrier off and installed a crossmember right where the spare would go. A spare is not an option on my do to space restraints.
