Diesel fuel stabilizer

Any thoughts on which diesel fuel stabilizer to use when putting my Thor Palazzo 37.4 into intermediate/long term storage? While price is a consideration I am willing to pay for the best product if there is one out there.

Some fleets just use a little isopropyl alcohol. Eliminates moisture. It’s not the more you pay the better it works.

If you choose to use one, Sta-Bil is the best. Personally I've never used any of that stuff. I've had diesels for over 25 years and the most idle is the Kubota tractor. During winter I keep tank full and it sits sometimes 4-5 months...fires right up. I also keep 8 each 6 gallon Jerry Cans of diesel in stock, rotating it out every 6 months or so. Diesel is more a light oil and is vert stable when left for long periods. It already has stabilizers in it from the refinery. A quote from the net:

Exxon and Chevron state that “diesel fuel can be stored 6 months to 1 year without significant fuel degradation if you keep it clean, cool and dry.”

Well, I missed the ethanol ball and struck out. This one is a base hit.

I've been through the Freightliner manual and the say to store it with the tank full and use a fuel stabilizer, but do not recommend a specific one. I'd rather err on the side of caution for $20.00 than take a chance.

I've used Sta-bil for the coach and my gas units - Boat, ATV, mower and the like - no issues. There are different types of Sta-Bil so watch to get the right one - there's Marine, storage, etc.

Sta-Bil makes one specifically for diesel. Don't use any stabilizer that says "gas or diesel".

I'm glad that you mentioned this... it's just the sort of mistake I'm known for!
