i have a question for the group.
the specs on the gray water tank say 37 gallons. has any one suspected other than me that it is not that large..when i get up under the coach it appears to be the same size as the black tank...and when i am camping i just dont think we are sending that much gray water down to the tank...

now, has anyone thought about insulating the underside of the coach? and it sure would be nice to see some pictures on where waterproofing was applied to wheel wells

also picked up this Bluetooth speaker for inside/outside the coach and the sound is awesome.

After moving from a 4 slide fifth wheel to a Four Winds 22e, it takes a little adjusting. We mainly use the 22e for a night or two while traveling with dogs. The fiver was moved a few times a year basically seasonal stays in one place. Having said all that, there are a few mods I have done thus far.

I made a fold up entry step well cover to keep anyone including the dogs from falling in the well. You flip it up to use the steps for a short stop like a rest area but remove it once you are settled for an overnight stay.

I added a back up camera that I can turn on at anytime, not just reverse.

I put some levels inside on the dash panel and door panel. Since I use wood to level, I just place the wood ramps under the tires and can see when I'm level from the drivers seat.

Replaced the puny tv with a 32" in the bunk area and moved the little tv to the bedroom.

As I am writing this, I have a roll of Reflectix to cut for each window to be used during storage but also can be used if you get in a site with too much sun on a side.

Added a holding tank venturi.

That's all for now.
We just purchased a 2017 22E.

Perhaps Thor heard your wish list.

The back camera can be selected anytime and will stay on until something else is selected.

When we made the trip back home with the Thor, we left the camera on so the driver could make sure the car we drove to get it was still following. We also had good luck communicating with two small hand held family radio service units. It made formation driving much easier that just watch and follow.

It also came with the 32 inch TV.

We replaced the DVD player with the Blue Ray player we had used in our travel trailer.

The levels in the cockpit (sorry, my military service and civilian career was aviation so it seems natural to call it that) are a great idea.

The stairwell cover is another good idea. The cats are probably smart and nimble enough not to fall in, but I'm concerned about me. I would also like to see a picture.

What venturi did you select?

Ken

I too used an extra blue ray with the 32" tv.
The holding tank venturi was a Camco. Easy install. Works well.

4 winds freedom Elite

We have a 2015, 28H freedom Elite with almost 10K miles on it. We've had it to New Orleans and Florida, and weekend trips here in Wisconsin. Planning to go to the Grand Canyon in October. I want to take the dogs but my wife says no.

Only issues so far have been the slide out got stuck (warranty repair) and recently the awning motor has gotten slow on retract. Its scheduled for replacement 8/22 under extended warranty.

We do haul a 2014 ford Focus and haven't really figured out mileage, figuring it will suck no matter what I do. I do love the V-10 engine, I can pass anything if needed.

I installed the front and rear sway bars last year. I just installed swivel seat bases for the cab seats. They work ok with current furniture though a bit tite. We plan on modifying the interior ourselves over time; I'm a woodworker and might build it all. Looking at replacing the couch with a two seat reclining love seat.

So far we love our 28H, though I did get a bit dreaming eyed when we looked at a 2015 Forest River FR-3 but really don't want more RV for more $$. Would rather More RV for less$$.

I take the DW, the Great Pyrenees and 2 long haired cats. they all settle in just fine after we start moving, i carry a 12' and 30' wire lead so that jack can stay outside when its nice. the one i use depends on how full the park is and how close the neighbors are. i also carry a mini shop vac for the hair

We have three mutts, who individually are ok with other dogs, but put them together and we have pack mentality. They enjoy the riding and the different smells at each stop, but other dogs next door and they get aggressive. We have the minivac as well.

Ulsterman50, I thought about the seat swivels. The drivers seat is against the dinette bulkhead so unless I moved it forward it would be tough to swivel. The passenger seat is another matter, it might just work there. My question to you is did you gain any height in the seat. I could use an inch or so and the swivel might be an option.

Forgot to mention in an earlier post, the first thing I did was put a 3" memory foam topper on the excuse for a mattress that came with the unit. I would have replaced the mattress entirely, but it would be a custom job and very expensive. It's a short queen with the end cut at an angle. Other units I have had over time were regular queens and were replaced with a top quality mattress.

We just did a spring break trip to the west coast from Chicago. If you do the grand canyon south rim you will be fine. North is closed for the winter and I think that starts some time in October.

We took our 2 dogs and 2 kids. The dogs were great but there where a few places and sights you cant see with the dogs and will have to leave them in the RV. Also if you make your way threw new Mexico keep the dogs in the car. The thorns are insane down there and at the welcome center they couldn't walk even on the pavement without getting them stuck in their paws. There is a website bringfido.com that has lots of info on different places with pets.

The white dog is interesting looking. Is he a particular breed or a mix?

He was a 6m old puppy. The store called him a English Shepherd. But he is a mix. His mom was a old English sheepdog. Dad was a Australian shepherd. We shave him which is why face is longer hair then the body.
He loved to be up by the window. Quite a few times we would leave them in the RV and he would be up on the dash and when we came back people were talking selfies i front of the RV with him.

My set up is exact opposite of yours. The dinette is behind the drivers seat. The passenger side swivels about 270 degrees but the driver seat hits the steering wheel. Not as much movement as id hoped but ok. I plan on putting in captains chairs so the swivels will be better utilized

We would like to do this for our step area. On the underside what is it you used on the sides? Is it wood strip or rubber?

I am happy with my 31L

We bought our 2014 freedom Elite 31L a year and a half ago it was a Camping world fleet rental but it looked like they keep it up nice and it runs like a champ. I have put over 7000 miles and only had 1 problem and that was the tail lights which I found on the web that where a bad design so I changed them out, they kelp filling up with water and corroding the bulbs and the water was getting into the walls.
Some of the things I did to make it more to our liking was
1. Added sliding shelves in the pantry.
2. A larger TV in the bedroom
3. A larger monitor for the backup camera.
4. Added some 360 holding tank ventures.
5. Added 2 Fantastic vent covers
6. Changed out the sofa bed for a recliner sofa

I have a question for someone that may know, the manual says to use a lite oil one the slide-outs but it does not show where you put it. All the rollers are in closed.

Sink cover link?

Hi, we just bought a Thor Freedom Elite 29FE. Basically similar to the Four Winds 29G. Where can we get the sink cover? It's been mentioned several times but no link or details. Thanks.

Do you have the round sink .. approx 16" across?
Some folks had custom covers made..others found premium rounds at retailers...
we found a pine round at Home Depot $5 ... do not stain it...seal with Mineral Oil..which you can purchase there as well...cost about $5
I like this round..as if I destroy it chopping stuff or stain it..I didn't spend alot of $$ on it..and it can be easily replaced.
...Ron put rubber bumpers on the bottom to keep it on the sink during travel.
