FBV2018..... I pull a 09 Mini Cooper 4 down with aux brakes on Mini and the Transit does a good job. Most of our trips with it have been in the flatter parts of the country since we live in the mountains. Thinking Mini is around 3,500 lb range?

Actually they aren’t rated for 5000. That’s just the class of hitch. Correct me if I am wrong but I think 3500 is pushing the GCWR.

Safety recall

My curiosity got the best of me so I went looking for the “trailer light module”. Found it but I had to take the seat and batteries out to get to it. In a year of ownership there hasn’t been any water intrusion in my footwell. It’s dry as a bone with no sigh of being wet & that was with 60” of rain from Harvey last August. For now I’m going to monitor by popping out one of the bolt covers and looking.
The lesson here might be to not drive through any high water. Seems to me Ford’s idea of drilling a hole would allow water in. If I ever see any sign of water I’ll relocate the module to under the seat.

So can we see a show of hands? How many are going to go ahead with the recall and how many are going to not fix what is not broken (so to speak)?

I am like vfrhugh thinking that drilling a hole will only make water intrusion more likely...

Entry door bottom weather stripping

Looked at my door and it has a small (1/2”) gap on the hing side and all little larger (1”) on the striker side. It was surprisingly difficult to take a picture.

I am also concerned the fix may not be the solution but I will take it to the Ford dealer and get their opinion. So my hand is up for the moment. By time I have returned from our planned trip in July they should have had a van or two in for the recall and they will know more about it, maybe.

Finally decided to call a Ford dealer to set up an appointment for the Tow Module recall and also the control module reprogramming FSA. The nearest Ford dealer who will work on an RV is over 1.5 hours away and the first available appointment is not until the end of the month. The service writer said the reprogramming may take up to 5 hours???

Anyone gone through this? Really 5 hours!

I was at the dealer less than two hours for the reprogram. Thanks for reminding me to call about the recall.

Just had my paint protection warentee pays off today. They sent a detailer to my house and he did some buffing, power washed my roof and washed the entire coast as well as retreated the area that was in question. It looks new again.

Just for fun I tried calling another Ford dealer about the recall and found out they install an insulated fusible link as part of the recall. The only other Ford dealer within a two hour drive was out of stock and did not expect to get more for over a month! Going to keep my appointment at the other dealer. Maybe having to get the part is why the first appointment was not until the 27th?

Glad to hear the reprogramming only took two hours.

Paul

Paul N...... I had both recalls done this past week and I dropped it off at 8:00 am and they were finished at 4:00 pm but I told them I was in no hurry. I’m not sure what they did but I will investigate later and report on it.

Refrigerator light?

Just bought a Gemini 24TX that has Norcold 5.5 ft3 refrigerator series 512. Surprised that there is no inside fridge light??? Really want to add something as locationof fridge makes it hard to see inside contents? Anyone else know of this issue and have good solution? Thinking about adding small LED battery unit that can be turned on manually.

We have a 24TX as well, and I too was surprised by the no lite in the refrigerator. Most of the time its really no problem, but I did put a light on the inside wall, toward the front, which I got from Costco. Its manual, but lights the inside quite well. Just have to remember to turn it off when you close the door. I will say, compared to the Norcold we had in our previous coach, it works much better. Refrigerator stays at a constant 38 degrees, the very small freezer stays pretty much at -3 degrees.

I have gotten these lights a while back. I haven't tried them in the fridge yet as it's not working still. Not sure how cold temps will affect them.

The ones we have seem to be ok at cold temps in the refrigerator. The one I have came in a pack of six, and can be turned on and off with a remote. I mounted several in the closet, then mounted the remote on the inside of the closet door, they work great in the closet. Only needed one in the refrigerator, but just turn it on and off with the switch on the light.

Drawers Question

I'd like to take out the drawers out to see whats behind them. I can't figure them out and don't want to damage them. Anyone know how to take them out?

When the drawers are out there are black plastic tabs on the sides of the slides. You push them up or down depending on the side and then the drawers will come out.
