Get your alinement checked

Learned the hard way. After 15,000 miles my front Michelins are trashed. Due to improper alignment the inside tread cupped causing vibration at the steering wheel and unpleasant handling.

The E 450 cutaway is aligned perfectly at the factory, but a new alignment is needed once the chassis is built out. I found out that if you request this within the first few months of ownership it will be covered by warranty.

I ordered two new Michelins from Tire Rack, and took the motorhome down to the Ford Commercial Truck Service Center. They will mount the new tires and do the alignment ($255.00)

So word to the wise, after purchasing your new motorhome, get the alignment checked.

I definitely second that. I took delivery at the beginning of June and the first thing I had done was an alignment. It was way off and driving for an extended time would trash the tires.

The Their rep also told me the same thing. The chassis is aligned at the factory, but once everything is installed, it really needs to be aligned again for the extra weight.

BTW, this is not a Thor thing, I have had other RVs and all of the manufacturers say the same thing. I just don't understand why it's not done in the factory before leaving.

You mean you would rather have the guys that can not drive a screw in straight do your alignment too

The problem is the alignment needs to be done when the rv is loaded as you would travel down the road. So, simply having the dealer or Thor align it empty would not completely solve the problem.

I had my alignment done at a Goodyear truck center, they told me to load it up as if I was headed out on a trip, 50 gallons of water, which we typically travel with, etc. it was out of whack quit a bit.

Not really, but at least make an effort
