Hurricane 31S, reviews and thoughts please

We've sold a TT....now looking for very newish, used 2015 or 2016.. have looked at a nice 2015 Hurricane 31S...the owner says it a 2015 1/2. With 5k miles.

I am having trouble finding a NADA price...

Any thoughts if this is a good product and what would be a fair price range...it in FL.

Thanks

hurricane 31s

I have a 2016 hurricane 31s and I love it. I always wait until the end of the year to buy because the prices come away down to clear the lots for the new model year. that said I drove 16 31s models before I bought the 2016 new from camping world. le-masa and lazeydays would not come down a penny in price, so I just test drove them and walked off the lot. I paid 72.000 plus tax with all options except paint.

A nice unit for sure. You will probably pay 73--79 for it, as a guess. Good luck in your search!

Happy with my 2014 Hurricane 32A... We bought ours used and less than a year old as well - though at higher mileage.

If you've reviewed the forum - you have seen the importance of a pre-delivery inspection - use that to make sure everything possible is working or fixed... We found a list of things the first day - including a non-working microwave... dealer addressed them all.
(You didn't say whether you were buying from a dealer - but they can make or break your experience.)

With a used unit - you won't get any warranty from Thor - but should still get the remaining 3/36 warranty on the chassis/powertrain.
Hopefully the original owner has 'debugged' the unit already.

I chose to get an extended service plan - initially covering coach only (since chassis was still under warranty) - and recently added full coverage as we expired the Ford warranty on miles. Whether you choose to or not is up to you... I fix many things myself - and do my own regular maintenance - but with the amount of money I owe the bank - wanted the piece of mind against a major failure at least (you can 'tune' the deductible - and thereby the premium to your needs...)

Warranty claims so far covered replacement stereo (Jensen blank screen issue) and a leveling jack failure/replacement.

Working on a list of mods I've done and will share when I get it compiled.

Good luck with the 'new' coach!

If you're trying to get an idea of pricing do a search for make, model, and year, the result should bring up several dealers and allow you to get an idea of what coaches are selling for.

And like gmc said, inspection, inspection, and inspection again. You can never be to careful. Take someone with you who is knowledgeable to help you go over the coach.

I have a 2002 Hurricane 29D. I bought it when it was 2 years old, with relative little mileage on it. I had not any real problems with it (just refasten a few screws here and there), and I plan to hang on to it as long as possible.

It is pretty reliable and provides a good value for the money.
I needed to make some modifications to it, to get a decent ride out of it. But that is typical for an F53 chassis .

For pricing info, I would try RVTrader.com and RVT.com to see what may be available around the country and what pricing is being offered. This will give you a good idea of where to start negotiating.

In terms of reviews and opinions, we are quite happy with our 2016 Hurricane 35C (really more of a 2015.5 since it has the Ford 5-speed chassis.) There have been some minor issues, but nothing that either the dealer, Thor or myself haven't been able to take care of quickly. We found the Thor to be a real value compared to others in the same range from other manufacturers. We also spent close to 3 years looking for this current rig, so it had to meet our requirements.

Also looking at upgrading to a 31S in early 2017. Differences I've noticed on the newer models are: No air mattresses, pantry pull-out shelves as opposed to wire baskets, 6-speed transmission. Main problem now is dealing with local dealers who will not come down in price and add ridiculous fees. I've gotten decent quotes on a factory order from RVOne superstore but I would have to wait 4 months and then pick up the RV in FL or NY. Looking at getting quotes from a few other places that advertise themselves as discounters.

Love it!

Bought my 2016 31S in October, 2015. Been using it regularly ever since, with only minor problems. Looked at the 2017 models at Hershey Show, and was underwhelmed. I think the 2016 had better construction, with things like smooth sink edges and fitted covers (2017 had sink edges above counter top). Biggest disappointment was not getting the "theater seating (recliners). We don't need the extra bed, and would really appreciate the recliners. Took this one off the lot, though, and it was what they had. What small issues we had were corrected by the dealer, RV Solutions in San Diego, CA.

This thread is what I was looking for. We are planning to get a Class A sometime this year and the Hurricane/Windsport 31S floor plan we like a lot. I've been comparing this to the Forest River Georgetown GT3 30X3. Our decision is going to come down to warranty work (when needed) and how far to travel if I purchase in another state and local dealers balk. There some feature differences that we will have to settle for either way. But this thread has answered a few outstanding questions already. So thank you. we plan to buy after July and plan to visit the Hershey Show in Sept if we have not seen a killer deal by then

We saw the new Windsport 31Z at the Tampa show...we really like as the extra large storage space is terrific...and we don't think we'd use the outdoor kitchen all that offen....

Happy with our 2015 32n. Not many initial issues. But our selling dealer was AWFUL in taking care of them. Research the place you're planning on handling warranty issues on rvservicereviews.com.

As a Hurricane 31S owner, all I can say is hooraaay. Love the MH. Many issues. All takes more time then what I would have expected, but getting close to completion now. Almost a year later.

I will be placing an order for 2018 model of the 31S this week. We are getting the dual AC. The power drive's seat which was optional in the 2017, is now standard option but the grill is no longer available which is not at all a big deal. Delivery expected in June.

I would buy another Hurricane in a heartbeat. As others have noted, there are always going to some issues that need to be dealt with, but I'm very satisfied with what I got for the money I spent.

If you are referring to the portable gas grill no longer being available that is because Aussie no longer makes them. In my opinion it is no great lose. I replaced my Aussie with a Weber Q 2200. About 10.00 in parts and 30 minutes time and it now connects to the on board propane connection and cooks up a storm. I'll be giving it a workout again over the next week as we take our first trip of the year beginning Friday.

Here is the link to the thread where I explained the conversion of the Q
