This improved the A/C in my Axis.
This may have been posted before. If not here it is. I did the fix and considerably improved my A/C. One of my ducts was misaligned by an inch and a half causing air to be directed into the ceiling instead of the duct. There were holes in other areas causing air loss as well.

Yeah, I improved my air flow greatly between taping the joints in the AC unit and closing off the very end of the duct work so its not trying to cool the ceiling (as well as some other ideas).
Do some searches on AC improvements on this forum. I posted several last year (and reposted a few this year).
Lots of ideas for keep heat out of the RV which helps the cooling.

After seeing the above video, I went out and checked mine.....had the same issue with the cold/warm air divider.....approximately 1 inch gap.... the divider was not in its positioning slot on the cover......re-positioned the divider.
Easy job to do......thanks for posting!

Glad it helped stustoner.
Thanks for the info LWR. I found the thread and it was a fountain of info. I went up this afternoon and got some Frost King and a pipe insulation tube. I will insulate the cold air box tomorrow and wrap the copper tubing. I will also move the probe up. Mine looks to be about 2 inches from the bottom. I will move it up a couple inches and see what happens. I also picked up an AC thermometer. Thanks again for the info and all the research you did.

Glad to help.
I also insulated the Vent covers (on the roof) with Dynomat. It rejects all the heat trying to get though the vent covers (with vents closed of coarse).
Ceramic window tint on ALL windows and windshield (its almost clear = 15% tint) and insulated the firewall/dog house.
All of this adds up. Im one cool camper now.

All those things mentioned in the AC thread help but for me i'm convinced it was the taping of the divider and most importantly the addition of a vent below the main blower. This bypasses most of the roof vents. With a 25 foot RV it's like having a window unit blowing straight out cold. Most of the cold air never reached the roof vents and what does is significantly warmer. May not work for a larger RV. Spent the day at 93 degrees in the sun and humiture over 100 and was plenty cold.

Right. In the Axis/Vegas a new round vent in the AC cover works wonders. Then when it cools down at night, you can close it and open up the vents in the bedroom or just pivot the vent to blow into the bedroom.

We installed the round vent (a whole 8.00 investment) on the bottom of the interior A/C faceplate about a year ago..
The VEGAS hadn't been above 80 since (no matter the outside temp)
Before it was rarely below 89...

This is the one I have. It is the largest diameter one that doesn’t interfere with the filter covers. Placed directly below the blower.

I ordered the wrong size and was worried it wouldn’t fit but it worked out. I wonder if 2 smaller ones would have worked better. I think the higher volume of air coming directly from the blower and bypassing uninsulated vents the better.

I Agree! Round works so well if I were to do it again. I would find the largest rectangle vent that would fit into that area. Best under $10.00 mod. I have also entered it in the RV Modders Hall of Fame.

The nice thing about the round one is that it swivels and directs all the cool air directly where you want it. You can direct it toward the couch or the kitchen or the front or toward the bedroom. A rectangular vent wont give you as much flexibility.

I was thinking the same as RevJeffrey. A rectangular vent with a damper to fit the entire blower opening, but my how would we regulate air direction. It's nice to be able to blow it on the couch, front or turn to the back for a quick cool down.

I agree with being able to swivel the vent! Do it all the time. (also need to swivel to keep people on the couch from being too cold) Never thought the first year I owned the VEGAS that being "too cold" would ever be an issue.

I insulated the cool air box under the cover on the roof and moved the temp probe up to 4 inches from the bottom of the evaporator on top of sealing off everything under the ceiling cover and my AC thermometer reads 42 degrees at the vents in the cover and 44 at the vents in the bedroom. I am still going to get a round vent for the ceiling cover, but what a difference. Thanks for all the help
