New RV

I have a ACE 29.3 and want to some day move up to something else in the 31-34ft range. I am very disappointed with the quality of the THOR, what other brands would anyone recommend?

Also what are your thoughts on diesel vs gas? I was told by a dealer today that in 2016 they are making a better gas engine and he would not choose a diesel over gas then. Is diesel really much more quiet and efficient? I know it costs more up front but needs less maintenance.

thoughts?

I just traded in a 2016 ACE 30.1 and bought a 2015 Thor Palazzo 36.1.

The difference is like night and day. Gas V10 engine is powerful enough for the job, but the Cummins Diesel is super quiet and the gasser is super noisey. Just a pleasure to drive and is a better drive going down the highway with the air bag ride.

But the price is a lot different. The thing about RVs is that you are always throwing money into them. No matter the brand it is just the nature of the beast.

Just have fun with your unit and work on the small stuff as you go!

bikegolfgirl - you will more than likely get all sorts of responses. Let me give you mine. I had a Georgetown - lots of little stuff. Bought a Challenger to get more room. Lots of little stuff. If you're worried about the quality take a look at the other motorhome brand boards. Lots of stuff - big and little.

Here is the largest difference for us. With Forest River the customer support was MIA. With Thor - always get a human that helps out.

If you're looking for a unit with extremely high quality - get ready for a sticker shock.

Daveht told you straight on all counts.

Us - we got a 38' motorhome, 1.5 baths, 3 bunks that we don't have to put up and lots of fresh, gray and black water. We put in a washer/dryer for all the laundry our grandkids generate. After 13,000 miles I can honestly say we have a very dependable and usable coach. Maybe as our requirements change we will consider a different floor plan but thats about 3-4 years out.
