Post Locking Gas Cap

Can not find a locking gas cap for my 2015 Thor Hurricane 34 J. Have tried eBay, Amazon, pep boys, advance auto, rock auto, etc etc etc!

Anyone know of any out there!?

If you have a ford powered unit, Napa has one part number 703-1723, Stasnt makes one you can buy at Amazon. Or go to you ford dealer and buy an F150 cap

While parked at Washington Square on Elysian Fields Avenue near the French Quarter in New Orleans last November, about 30 gallons of gas was syphoned from my tank while we went sightseeing.

I very quickly discovered that a Ford F150 pickup truck has the locking gas cap that will fit.

I once talked to a dealer about why a lot of RV's don't have locking gas caps. His answer was that, if they want your gas, they are going to get it one way or another. If you have a locking gas cap, they will just puncture your gas tank and get it that way. And then you will be out even more money.

I've heard a similar thing said about locking your car doors.....

I have considered many times to install a locking gas cap, but figure since the cap is so exposed, one nice whack with a hammer, brick ,etc.... would defeat any plastic locking cap I can buy.....

But on the other hand.....
a locking cap might prevent a mischievous 10 year old from pouring something into the tank that I don't want in there...... just to help to guide the innocent little lads on the honest path.

blw2 you said a mouth full....that is the exact reason I finally purchased one at O'Reilly auto parts - fits like a glove. They can have the gas, but I do not want that punk neighbor kid ruining my engine by pouring god knows what down there!

Do you remember which O'Reilly locking gas cap fit so well? A part number will be well appreciated.

Nursx2 & Runeasy,

What is the Part number at O'Reilly's on locking gas cap-that fit & worked on Thor Motor Home. I've tried NAPA 703-1723 & 1720 & Stant 10508. Two fit but when you lock then turn with your hand it pops off. Need a cap that fits & stays locked on Thor-Axis. Thanks

Locking Gas Cap

The Stant 10510 works perfectly on my 2015 Thor Windsport. Got it from Amazon. Good luck . . .

A couple of years ago, I took my stock gas cap into Walmart and matched it up with locking cap that fits fine. Not sure what the price was.

As far as locking caps not being a deterrent, though its true if 'they' want something bad enough, no lock or alarm will stop them, but if there are several vehicle choices, you can bet they will go after the easiest or unlocked one first. Human nature!!!!!!!

Locking gas cap

I bought a MasterPro Select #5902 locking gas cap from O'Reillys that works and stays on my 2017 Chateau 31W (Ford E450). Only issue is can't use the original gas cap retainer strap.

Same could be said about locking your house doors.

Reality is if someone really wants to steal, they will find a way in. I just want to make it harder so they leave me alone and find something easier.

So I replaced the stock gas cap with a locking cap and hope they move onto the rig without the lock.

Stant makes a locking fuel cap for your RV.

Yes, does anyone know what is the part # and where to get it/order it from to replace my aging gas cap. So far, I have gotten 2 that do not fit.
Thanks!

Thanks!

There are still advantages to buying locally... in my case for F53 there are 2 different caps in the ‘computer’.. Drove my rig to local auto parts store, and they let me try them.
2nd one worked...
