Looking at 2014 Tuscany EXT 36MQ - feedback?

My wife and I sold our fifth wheel and are shopping for a motorhome to be used primarily for snowbirding. We really like the Tuscany EXT 36 MQ layout, but have heard some bad comments about Thor quality issues. I know all brands have their issues, but wanted to get some feedback from Tuscany owners about their overall satisfaction with their coach. Would you invest again in a Tuscany? Anything specific that i should look for when inspecting?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

For Thor quality issues in general just read the following topics:

http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f17...here-7454.html
http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f17...oach-5734.html

The big thing with the buying experience is the dealership. If you work with a good dealer you'll be happy--even if your brand new coach has a few wrinkles. If the dealer isn't on the up and up so much then you'll be on here cursing Thor when its the dealer that was the problem.

Remember that forum's will skew the perception of problems: People with problems will seek out forums looking for answers (or go to Facebook to bitterly complain). Thus when you're searching a forum you're looking at a concentration of issues when the happy campers (for the most part) are out enjoying their coaches and not posting.

or, you take the approach we did: shop for the price and coach you want, drive to where it's at to purchase it, and use the Thor Service Center for your warranty issues as they arrive, not a dealer - We've never seen our dealer since our purchase 4 years ago.

Thumbs up Our 2014

Generally we are happy with our 2014 36MQ. Our biggest issue was the kitchen slide out. We had to return it to the factory to get it repaired properly.

One of the other very weak points was the Bi-Directional Isolation Relay Delay (BIRD) and the associated solenoid. You will be changing this out as it will likely fail. We tossed the entire mechanical system for a BIM 225 solid state unit after our second failure. Been flawless ever since.

Like anything that rolls down the road, we have had our fair share of squeaks and rattles, all of which the DW would find and silence. I too am rather handy so regular repairs and maintenance is a must if you want it to keep it rolling.

We have added the Blue-OX Tru Center steering to ours and it is a dream to drive now. And yes, fundamentally, we would buy another one again.

Best of luck
Cheers
Scotty
