Thanks for the information. It does make sense the way you explained it.

what model is installed in the new Hurricanes? the control module is different than shown in the links above. I was told the Hurricane unit is not controllable by the temperature, only battery voltage. No paperwork was provided in the bag of manuals on this item.

I don't know of any AGS that does not function for both Voltage or Temperature, it's the two settings that the AGS is designed for

in the AGS settings mode, if you have a Magnum remote panel, you can actually choose both at the same time - if the temp goes above your setting, it will trigger the generator on(keep your a/c thermostats ON so that they will come on when the generator does), and if your Voltage(battery power) drops below your setting, 12.0 is a good number, it will also trigger the generator to recharge the batteries(and run your a/c's if they are also ON and the thermostat temperature is within range)...

another note:
-if using your AGS to mainly recharge low battery power, set your SHORE MAX to 40 or higher to get the Maximum amount of BULK CHARGE form the Charger while the generator is running. You can then set your AGS RUN TIME to anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours or more, but I usually use the lowest 30 Minutes setting. That's usually enough time to Bulk Charge the batteries enough for several more hours or usage before the AGS might trigger again. If you set it too long, the generator could be running for no reason after the batteries are already charged...

-if you are using your AGS for mainly Air Conditioning for high temps, then set the SHORE MAX setting to 20 or less so that the Charger does not pull too many amps while both a/c units are running, otherwise you could trip the generator breaker - then the generator would be running but not providing any power to the a/cs or the charger. Not good.

-if you want to use the AGS to provide alternative power if your Shore Power is lost, then set the AGS to 12.0 Volts, the SHORE MAX to 20 or higher, and the RUN TIME to 30 minutes or more. This will provide a backup to shore power for the batteries if power is lost. It will also provide enough amperage for other items that you might have left running in the coach, especially heaters for cold weather like we do, if shore power is lost.
