MIRAMAR 34.2 outdoor kitchen door

Closed and locked the door, cruising down the road, went over a couple of twisting type bumps and it popped open and ripped off the motorhome. Thank god it didn't hit anybody!!! Has this happened to anyone else?

Wow!!! First time I have ever heard of that happening, glad no one was hurt! With the double latches you must have really been torquing the body for it to pop open. Were you able to recover the door and is it repairable?

Yes some great folk in a pickup stopped and took me back to get it. Pretty smashed up though. You said double latch. This only has the same latch like on the cargo doors. A single locking tab style. There should be two or at least a safety catch.

The door on our outside kitchen has two latches, just assumed your coach would have the same. Still, WOW!!!

Challenger only has one latch as well and it has not had any issues. I have had a storage compartment come open while exiting an Interstate. Slight adjustment to the latch catch took care of that.

I don't know if this really makes a difference but I ALWAYS lock all my compartment doors, including the outside kitchen, when traveling. The dealer told me this would prevent them from popping open. Funny thing is we had one pop open on the initial test drive...it was NOT locked. I have driven about 7,000 miles in this last year without any problems.

Had the same situation on our 2016 Miramar 34.2, got off at an exit and one of the side LOCKED compartment doors opened. Fortunately the people in the car behind us honked their horn and got our attention otherwise that would have been a disaster. Turned out that the lock mechanism needed adjustment. I checked all the others and found 3 that needed adjustment as well. Now before we leave, both myself and my wife double check all the compartment doors and give an extra push on the propane door.

Our outdoor kitchen door latch was broke when we picked it up, but didn't realize it until after we left. Plus I had to adjust it the next day to get it to latch. Almost two months later it's still not replaced.
