Need help now please thor axis.

Hi, first time we are trying to open the front to get the cover off the engine since we purchased it.
We are using the key and the left side releases but the right side only a little bit.
What can we do?

You might try locking the other side and then pushing on the cover at the sticking lock while you attempt to turn the key. That sometimes works on the smaller compartment doors. Both keys should turn the same distance to open.

You cannot get the “cover” off the engine from the front. The only “cover” is the dog house located between the front seats.

Sorry. I'm a newbie and I'm a little frustrated and a woman with no mechanical experience.
Something accidentally fell through the front "grill"? I used the special key to open both sides.
One side opened about 4" from the top and the other side about 2". I'm afraid to pull hard.
Does it have a hinge on the bottom and the door swings down ? I can't believe my Axis manual doesn't address this and the Ford manual doesn't cover the motorhome part. Ugh! Any ideas?

Starting from scratch
Push the hood back into place.
It should be bumped out about as far as shown in the picture.

Grab the hood at the first vent as shown. Don't do the awkward angle(I'm holding a phone) use both hands and stand centered to the hood.

Pull straight toward you.

You'll feel the hood lift a bit.

Now lift the hood.

The ease to this is pushing it back in, using about 15lbs of pull, stop, adjust your hands and lift.

When relocking the hood the damn locks spin sometimes.
If you can only get one of them latched, that's good enough to drive it somewhere and get help.

Am I supposed to pull it down , or does it swing upward after it is unlocked. I've been trying to pull down. I've tried to find YouTube videos showing how to open it but I haven't found one yet

Thor Vegas/Axis Manual

Stumbled on to this page and even though I do not have this model, this is a very informative manual, check it out and download it.

That’s interesting...
My 2017 Vegas 25.5, the hood pulls forward and then drops down!

That's why we needed to know the year of the vehicle.
We had a banter, now erased as unneeded, regarding up, down and year of vehicle.

Please post, with pics, an instruction similar to mine, but regarding yours.
Colonel Felker can incorporate both sets of instruction in his manual.

Don’t feel bad. My husband and I both struggled the first time we lifted the hood. I was afraid to use too much force. He finally figured it out.

DUCKSFACE, you are awesome! I know it can get tiresome for all of you who are experienced with RVs to answer the questions of us newbies, but it truly is appreciated! You not only answered the question, you took the time to take photos and share them. Many people wouldn’t take the time to do that. As Spinner already said, thanks so much!!

I would also like to say Thank You Ducksface. Just saying I also had trouble opening my hood on my ACE when I got it a few years ago. I was really pissed but I got it opened, still opens hard sometimes, but I know it can be opened. Thanks again.

It would hurt to put a drop or two of quality lube in those tight riveted joints.

Yes, gnach, I have put oil on all pivot points, and I hope it gets better soon, but sometimes its good then tight the next. Thanks for the thought.

Axis

This also gives you an opportunity to see just how big the openings to your radiator are through that grill. Great for air flow, bad if a stone gets kicked up and goes through your radiator, condenser, etc. You can take a look at Ed Felker's manual and see what owners have done with screen protecting the radiator. It would be worth your effort.
