Newbie question
Hi
We just took our pre-owned 2018 Axis 24.2 on a little drive today to get more experience driving it. The only real drive we've had in it was driving it home from the dealer.
We had a class B van prior to this. It seemed like keeping the speed between 62-65 on the interstate made the coach ride better.
Is this what the rest of you have found?
Also, there is cruise control available.
Does anyone use this feature driving a big motorhome?
Sorry these seem like stupid questions but I would really like to know.

The only "stupid question" is the one that doesn't get asked.
Our MH seems to have the same "sweet spot" as far as speed goes. She glides along smoothly and relatively quietly, but still has plenty of power in reserve when needed. We do use cruise control quite a bit on roads like the interstates.
Enjoy your new rig!

I found this is the place to ask any questions you have. We just finished our first year and still have a lot of questions
My Hurricane 31Z class A does best under 65 MPH. I use cruise control on interstates unless the are hilly. Something I wasn’t doing is using the “tow” button. When I am getting off the interstate I press it and leave it on until I get back on the freeway.

I keep our Axis 25.2 at around 62 and use the cruise on the interstate if not hilly. I do use the tow/haul when on smaller hilly roads.

I have the tendency to use tow/haul most of the time. Can't tell you why. Just a little better engine braking I guess. It doesn't seem to affect mileage as I would think it would. We run best at about 1900 RPM which is about 67 MPH. I let it do its own shifting on hills but pull it down a gear or two out of overdrive on the downside. Being diesel it will drive a little different than the big V10s

62ish for us.
I won't do it unless I'm on roads relatively by myself.
My obligation to traffic flow outweighs my comfort.
I knew the job was dangerous when I took it.
My physicality comfort speed is quite a few down the list on my obligations.
That said, she does fine at 75mph, but I think the rattles are exponential above that 62mph.
Cruise control is your best weapon against subliminal fatigue.
Use it according to traffic pattern dictates.

Just in case anyone ever asks...
The fastest top-speed ever recorded in an RV is 141 mph!

We usually run around 60 or a tick or two above, though on occasion we have had to push 70+ for short periods. I am most comfortable driving at around 60 towing a vehicle. We set the cruise and let the miles roll. The tow/haul feature is real plus on hilly terrain saves the brakes from excessive wear.

Our AXIS loves 65. Cruise: yes, Tow/Haul: yes, Flat tow: why is that little pickup tailgating us? After the suspension upgrades I love how it handles, although I still get pushed by passing high profile vehicles.

ERR, I think that was a mini-SUV with a bed (a Fiat Doblo) that set the 141 mph record.
A 1970 UltraVan powered by a 455 cuin Olds was able to set the 103 mph average for a full class A motor home with the stock interior 1970 and yes the Hutchinson factory made 13 and converted 7 more to the Tornado power plant. The base engine was a 307 cuin Chevy.
The class A motor coach record (with a full interior) at Bonneville is held by a 1977 GMC motor home at 122 mph set in 2015.

Yup! That's why I only said "RV", and didn't try to specify the type of rig it was.
It's still pretty dang impressive!
(And maybe just a wee bit foolish... )

Not stupid. I drive between 63 and 65. I have a 31z Hurricane. I have added several suspension things to help drivability. I do use cruise when traffic allows. Here’s the rule I go by. “Slow like a pro”.
