Ordering...
Has anyone on the forum actually ordered an A, B, or C to their specifications (be it big T or some other brand)?
Thanks in advance for any replies

Most of the higher end units already come with everything. My MH is the first vehicle I haven't special ordered in over 12 years...only because it has everything from the factory. If you're gonna keep it for a while, get what you want but be prepared to wait a few months.

Great thanks!
My understanding from the forum is Thor gets order $ up front.
If u want colours etc and order, if it comes in substandard compared to a similar unit across the country, what is your recourse?

Not sure how it works with Thor. I know you have to order through a dealership and their pre-payment policies will vary.

If you order from a dealer and that dealer has a similar coach on order, your order will replace the original dealer order. Yes, the dealer must pay for any coach before the dealer picks it up at Thor's delivery lot. If you order a coach that is NOT similar to a dealer order, then the new order will go to the end of the next batch of that model coach. Plants 650 and 750 do batch builds, but I suspect that plant 850 does not because of their varied product lines and expense of coaches built there. Partial paint and full paint coaches take form two weeks to a month longer to build than gel coat coaches due to the time required to prep and paint them after they are built.

Thanks Beau388 !(andGritz)
That's exactly what I need to know if you had to have a straight up
different order.
I am sorry for my inability to phrase the question correctly to get the answers I needed. That seems to be a theme with me lol(writing class here I come)
So what if it is a substandard build?
Since you have special ordered and already paid for it are you forced to just fix it and accept or get a rebuild?

I would imagine it is similar to ordering a car: Put some good faith money down ($100, 10%, whatever) and then you pay in full once it arrives. If it isn't what you ordered, or up to snuff you should be able to refuse the order and get your $$ back--if the dealer doesn't agree to all that, find another dealer.
Otherwise you'd be making payments on a non-existent vehicle which makes no sense.

Thanks JamieGeek
Yep surprised the larger dealer in the world no refunds per my sales inquiry
Thought it might be like auto industry but so much of this RV business has been counter-intuitive
(they also are a no test drive facility unless you have a contact and agree to the price they have) weird but they honest-dont wanna spend time on test drives
Customer service is dead, even for a sale

Not sure of your question- but I ordered my Siesta Sprinter and selected from a list of available options.
Original order April 10th 2015 was for a 2015 model with delivery expected in mid-June. About a week to 10days after ordering, the dealer advised orders for the 2015 model were no longer being accepted by the factory and mine would be the 1st of 2016 model year. Options had changed, cabinets instead of a bunk over the cab were no longer available and I changed the sofa in the slideout to a new theater seat option.
Delivery was on June 12th and was as expected.
FWIW I did test drive a similar unit prior to placing my order.
....
Your options if not satisfied are spelled out in the contract which usually does not include an "oh never mind" clause. But it is a contract and is also binding on the dealer/manufacturer. I notice my contract has a clause denying a warranty for suitability or fitness for any particular purpose.

ThxHooligan2
I was thinking more that it was obviously a unit that had so many problems that when if dealer fixed it was obviously such poorly built unit you could refuse.
Like a ups package that was so obviously damaged or misconstructed that it would be folly to 'accept' delivery or purchase.
What is my recourse, none.
At least with an on lot unit, I could refuse to sign until satisfied after pdi?
So I take it the suitability clause actually means no warranty at all really for refusal for required higher level of workmanship via negligence?

It is tempting to order but I would for sure want to see the MH before I put any money on it. We have looked at several new ones over the years that I wouldn't take home on a dare. At CW in Chicago the salesman said that they go through and clean and repair them after they are sold. Every one we looked at looked awful. He was newer there and said he doesn't understand why they don't clean them first and he wondered how many sales he lost because of that. Ours was one of them.
Generally there aren't that many options to choose from, if you look at Rvt.com or rvtrader.com I would think you could find a suitable one already built. I am sure you will get a much better price on it that way too.

Yes!
For sure Druff!
Agreed on all counts
In my case right now, I want some other colors Thor is not pushing right now
Thor is on this Silver platinum oak that looks like a surgery suite
And it appears that's what they wanna build
'They'say (my salesman) that silver the most pop
I said how so? None have been built
It is the new colour lol
I'd like to have the unit fairly soon but none built in the country yet except One silver oak

I see what you mean. I just went to Thor website and searched silver oak and you are right, it looks pretty hideous. Companies are into this modern look right now. Motorhome magazine showed a Winni in some modern decor too that looks awful. I don't think that all those colors will hold up in the long term. They will look aged very quickly.

Hahahha had to laugh at sales
I said most pop? You haven't sold ONE yet since they're not Bulit how can it be most pop
If you really listen, the conversations you have
Bwahahahah
