Palazzo auto leveling jacks and air bags

Hello Everyone,

I'm having a 2 part problem with my auto leveling jacks and air bags. The dealer is "Unable to replicate" the problem. I've already added a hydraulic oil additive as recommended by Lippert, and my wife posed a question to me that I might be doing something wrong....she's the smart one. Here is what I experience

1. Park
2. Move air suspension lever from auto to lower
3. Turn on Lippert system deploy leveling jacks using automatic button
4. Jacks shutter when retracting
5. Move air suspension lever from lower to auto
6. Visual verification that jacks are retracted
7. Wait for air reservoir to build air pressure and sneeze

On occasion, when on unleveled surface, axel (wheels) are off the ground.
1. I manually operate jacks to lift coach enough to place leveling blocks under wheels
2. Retract jacks with the wheels resting on the blocks, and wait for Lippert system to reset
3. Once reset, deploy jacks using the automatic button
4. Jacks shutter when retracted
5. Move air suspension lever from lower to auto
6. Visual verification that jacks are retracted
7. One pop noise is heard from the air bags as they inflate and return the coach to auto suspension level

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Well we have had our 2013 Palazzo for a little over a year and we do it as you do, except that DW will not rest easy if any wheels are off the ground so I stick a board under as far as it will go and she is happy and I don't have to go thru the re leveling as you do! If we are using the air conditioners I manually add a tiny bit of lift to the passenger side after it has auto leveled so the a/c water drips off the driver side! I have not noted any shutter on retraction on this coach but had it on a previous coach occasionally. On that coach if it happened several times in close time period I would spay some lube on the offending jack stand, wipe it down and that would take care of it. That was not a Lippert products!

I must be missing something, as I don't see the "2 part problem" you are having! Can you restate just the problem!

We had the shuttering problem with our Palazzo while retracting the jacks. If you move the level to "Auto" to fill the air bags before raising the jacks, there will be very little if any shuttering.

Hey Bob & BJ,

Sorry for the confusion, part 2 of my problem was the air bags popping when I occasionally park on an unlevel spot and the wheels come off the ground.

Thanks Gary! I'll give that a try. It makes perfect sense. I'd also like to try to lube the exposed jack shaft, but I'm not sure if it's safe to be under the coach like that.

hi

my experience has been to push the air bags lever to 'auto' for a lit bit to allow some air into the bags before pushing the retracting the levelers. you can also use the 'manual' button and then use the 'retract all' button and it will only go down for as long as you hold the button, which gives you a little greater control over the 'bouncing' issues...

most times that I've had any wheels off the ground, I've also heard the 'popping' sound - though I attributed that to the axle 'resetting' itself, but the air bag scenerio sounds like a better reason.

Thank you TurnerFam for the suggestion. I'll give it a try as well. Glad to hear someone else has experienced the pop noise. It's not a significant POP but I've still heard it. THOR was absolutely no help. They did say the procedure is to retract jacks first, then shift for lower to auto on the lever. I like everyone else's suggestions here. I wonder what Freightliner would say......
