Overhead bunk

I just noticed the weight limitation on my drop down bunk on my 2017 ACE 29.2, 250lbs! Is that correct, is that right...? I can't have 2 full size adults sleep up there!?

Full size?? Wow depends what part of the county you live, lol. Here in California I’m guessing that would be around 400lb for the pair. In Mississippi where my daughter lives that’s closer to 500-550lbs per pair. 250lbs just seems way low. My 10 and 12 year old grandkids would just about max it out.

Perhaps if you fill the sleeping bags with Helium...

At 250 some would have to have a leg hanging off.

I opted for the entertainment center with 50" TV...no overhead bunk but a lot more storage behind cabinet doors.

I have been paying attention to that during my shopping for a new one- many seem to be going that way- I don't know if they are having problems? One upside to the class C- my kids wrestle up there.....

I think the biggest division bell in floorplans is whether you have kids or not or how much others will travel with you. For us...it's a one bedroom condo with extra "short-term" sleeping quarters on the sofa/dinette. I'm gonna put hologram wallpaper next to those 2 areas whereby, after 2 days or so, the words "GO HOME" will pop out from nowhere!

Gritz,

Wow you had an option...in a Thor Product line.

And I quote your message: "I opted for the entertainment center with 50" TV...no overhead bunk but a lot more storage behind cabinet doors."

I wish they would give us smaller Thor product owners that option!

Oh yeah, our 2016 Vegas had a 500lb max for the overhead bunk.

Doc

Yes, an upside for sure. No setting up/tearing down couch and dinette beds.

Yep. W/ the overhead bunk and jackknife couch it makes it super easy. Adults don't want to spend more than a night or two up there- my one buddy had to go thru a concussion protocol after spending the weekend.... That is one reason we want a new one- to have room for another adult couple.

Having room for another adult couple sounds challenging. Good luck.

Yeah, the one we are looking at has a 500lb weight for bunk, and also going to fabricate a foldable platform to turn the dinette into a king bed lengthwize w/ an air mattress. They could use either. For a couple days, like Gritz says...

I wonder how many leaks in that area are contributed to exceeding the weight limit?

Wouldn't it be easier to just tell them to show up with their own rig?

Yep...nothing worse than hearing someone peeing 3 feet from your pillow at 2AM. Oh yes there is...they use 5 gallons of water to flush!
