Possible Defect in Ace, Axis and Vegas ???

Someone posted a problem with their Atwood Heater on their Axis. They said Thor said the cover had the louvers punched in wrong causing water to enter and short circuit a board....mine appears to be made the same way. I am attaching a picture so you can see how the louvers would allow water to enter. Tell us what you think...

We heard about this from a new owner while at the Thor Service Center at Wausau, IN. Apparently the bad louvre panels were showing up sporadically on various models.

Fortunately on our 2016 Vegas 24.1 the panel is rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the picture shown, so the louvers are sideways...not the best if driving the Unit in a hard rain.

Then everyone should examine their units for this defect.

Strange isn't it !?
Well, we were in some driving rains on this past trip and in May sitting in our driveway..with tornadic conditions surrounding us..and I am thankful to say we have had no damage or water problems.

Adam,

Mine look like yours...and yours is bad?

If so, who did you talk to at Thor? No sense starting all over again.

Mike,

The design would allow water to come into the louvre panel. I did not get the name of the female i spoke to. She asked for pictures and the VIN to be sent to : warrantysupport@tmcrv.com

The problem with the louvers will not be limited to specific models but rather to any coach with that model Attwood furnace since they build and provide the cover as part of the furnace.

My Challenger has the same cover and I have not had an issue and we have had some pretty heavy rain and snow over the last year.

Due to the requirement to paint and decal the covers I wouldn't expect Thor to replace the cover unless a dealer verifies there is a problem with water infiltration on your particular coach. If enough problems are reported and verified then a recall might get issued by Attwood or Thor.

Well, they changed the design of the curves on my Vegas 24.1...the entire cover is just the paint with no decal.
