Rear View (Backup) Camera

Our 2017 Thor Axis's backup camera does not give a very clear picture. I have adjusted it through the Axxera AV615BHM, but still not good results. Does anyone know it there is a replacement camera that would hook into the present system that would do better? Of all my vehicles with backup cameras, this is by far the worst.

I am sure there are other replacement cameras out there but may I ask a simple maybe stupid question? Being a 17 so must not have had long, did u check and make sure there is not a protective cover/tape on the lense?

One simple question, did you pull the protective film off the lens?

We though our camera was "really bad" until we were washing it and discovered there was protective film on the lens...

Once that was gone it makes a world of difference...

If its a 2017...just have them fix it. My 2016 Hurricane 31s works great.

Ha that's a hoot! thanks for the tip guys. My camera was bad from the factory. Had the dealer replace it. Was perfect for awhile then it got worse and worse. Would you believe the guys that replaced it left the protective cover on the new camera!!!!!!!!

Another giveaway is a bright 4 star like ring at night. It appears it has 4 led lights for nighttime visibility. The protective cover back-feeds that light into the camera and causes a blooming effect.

Yea. I can see again

You don't say which coach you have. Could be the camera or the radio or combination of both. I have adjusted my Axerra numerous times and it's either to bright or to dark, just not a good system. The Axerra also does not exactly have a high resolution display.

I have a 2017 Vegas. The point is the protective film over the camera lens was not removed.

Back up camera

I leave my backup camera on, while towing my dingy.
Noticed it blinks off once in a while.
Is that some sort of screen saver ?
I remember my dads motor home screen having an image of is car burnt in it.. lol

Thor 2017 Axis Back Up Camera

I do not have a film over the lenz so that is not my problem. I feel that it just a cheap worthless camera. Yes, I've adjusted it and can see all that it will show. Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement?

Is the backup camera supposed to have audio? Our Navion did so we are used to being able to hear the outside person give directions or info.

The monitor is audio capable if your camera has a microphone.

I replaced my crappy Axxera with a Pioneer. The backup camera is so much better and the Pioneer adds image lines so that you can actually judge distance. The wide angle rear camera can be very deceiving!

I replaced ou monitor with a 9" quad view model from Rear View Safety, great picture and can view all the cameras at the same time! Installation was easy, about 30-40 min.

Did you replace just the console or both the console and rear camera

Look in my signature for the Pioneer model. The camera is original. The screen is so much brighter with the new radio.

We connected the VEGAS rear camera to our GARMIN RV760 LMT...

BIG improvement over the AXXERA. It has the distance lines, which are great, and I have the GPS mounted on the dash where I can see the backup cameras without trying to look down at the radio..

Just picked up the coach after having window tint applied, and they connected the camera to the wrong jack on the GPS, so all I had was the AXXERA. Man, I felt lost.

It is unbelievable how much I have come to rely on the camera now that I can actually see it!

Can you display split screen on the Garmin and have the route and rear camera? Also can you use splitter and route the rear camera video to both the garmin and the Axxera unit?
