Rear camera

I just joined the forum a couple of days ago after buying an Axis 24.1 at the Tampa RV show. My previous RV had an "always on" rear camera. I can't find any way in the Axxera settings page to select this. Is a full time camera an option in the Axis or is it strictly reverse and manually on for a brief time? Thanks. I have a lot to learn.

Welcome to the Party!!
There's a way to do; I'm just not familiar with it...
There should be a menu button somewhere on the radio.
Once you find it: look for the camera.
It's got to be in their!
When I was test driving my rig: the salesman was able to switch it over to being always on, in a flash!

On mine with the radio on I push the small blue icon in the top left corner of the screen. Then on the next screen I push the camera icon and the image stays on while driving. You may not have the same model. Hope this works.

Look in your radio manual but for the Axxeras you normally push and hold the MODE button.

Probably no standard, but on mine, the screen (radio) has a small camera symbol which when pushed will turn the rear camera on.

Welcome to the forum! There is a wealth of searchable info, both general and specific to the Axis and it's twin, the Vegas, plus helpful folks that can answer almost any question.

Suggest you get the excellent crowd-sourced manual that Ed Felker compiled for Vegas/Axis: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AiYx6DLSeiiP6UNyy_VYGDO0BW6L

Also, a bunch of forum folks are gathering April 13-15 in Brooksville, FL at the Cloverleaf Forest RV Resort. Here's the thread with all the info: http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f28...lly-10408.html

It depends on which model Axxera. I had a 2017 Chateau, and in that one I could select the rear camera mode and it would stay in that mode. I now have a new 2018 Chateau with a newer model Axxera, and the rear camera mode will switch off when I use the turn signals, so they managed to make the newer model even more annoying than the previous one.

I've heard that you can cut the orange camera input wire so that it will stay in rear camera mode, but then the rear camera won't automatically switch on when you shift to reverse. I'm probably going to do this.

It switches to the side mirrors for safety all you have to do is touch the camera icon on the touch screen

Yes it switches to the side cameras, but then doesn't go back to the rear camera view, so you have to go back to the main menu and re-select the rear camera mode every time you change lanes. It also mutes the radio when the side cameras activate. I find this all very annoying. I want to have the rear camera set as default mode so it goes back to that view after using the turn signals, and I want to continue listening to my music or podcast while changing lanes.

You want to add a dedicated monitor like I did:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Put it at a convenient place on your dash, connect it to a switched 12 VDC power source, connect it to an RCS splitter for the lead to your radio and you're done.

Radio works as normal, rearview always on the dedicated monitor except when turn signals activate a side camera.

That was the one I purchased. Here's another model by the same manufacture that will work as well:

I have a 2017 Vegas 25.2. If I remove the top cover above the speedometer (mine secured by a couple of slotted plastic 1/4 turn screws) I see the switch box that feeds the camera signals into the radio. If you purchase 1 into 2 RCA type (audio) cables, you can have access to the camera signals for an additional monitor. This box controls the camera selection according to the turn signal inputs.

My camera sometimes comes on, then goes off driving down the road. I have seen this type of problem before (take it to the repair shop and they can't duplicate the problem), that I just let 'Thor' know about it and if it works when I need it to, I will ignore it for now. Bigger problem i have is the Engine lite came on AND is another long story that fixed itself for now. Onliest way I can think of to solve both these 'phantom gripes' is to get a hardback notebook and keep records of each repair. I want to spend more time RVING than with it in the shop for weeks and weeks, so if it's drivable I'm using it. But that's me.
