Thor Chateau 22B Slide operation

I opened my slide for the first time today and it would not open with the engine running but did open when it was not running. Is this the way it is supposed to be? thanks from your help. Bum.

But for other interested parties, many or most other manufacturers require the engine to be running and the parking brake on. It gives a bit more voltage that makes it easier on the slide motors .
