Traction devices

We are taking a trip from Washington do Upstate New York leaving in mid April. Most of the states on the way to Illinois require traction devices to be carried. Anybody have experience with Autosocks?

I'm near Buffalo and contrary to what the media may portray, by mid April we are snow free and typically have been for almost a month. Can we get an odd snow, sure but the road crews in this neck of the woods usually have the issue handled in a matter of a few hours and roads are cleared and salted. I personally would just use good judgement after watching the weather forecasts.

Thanks, we will be going past you on our way to Clifton Park to visit family. Our challenge is Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming as we will be as high as 8500 feet. I am building time for just in case. We do need to be at Thor on April 18 as the only absolute.
