Thor Recall

Just received a recall notice for my ACE 29.3, the shower curtain is flammable and will burn faster than required in a fire. Says its a 15 minute fix

Received my recall for the shower curtain as well today. Maybe the dealer can replace in 15 minutes

Just got the same letter on the shower curtain. Too bad it will take a lot longer to get to a dealer than change it out. I wonder if it is a problem in the real world or in some government fantasy land. Like will it burn in 20 seconds instead of the government approved 30 seconds? Jim.

Yep, 15 minute fix.
1st make an appointment to drop it at the dealer.
They of course won't order the part till they get the coach in hand and can send pictures up to Indianna for approval.
3-5 days later the approval comes through and you'll get word the order has been placed. The curtain should arrive in 7 to 14 days, then another three days for them to schedule it into the service bay.
.....but once we get to it, it'll take the guy 15 minutes tops! Then you can come pick it up.
.... a month and a half later

No thanks. I'm not sure what sort of curtain you folks have in these ACE coaches, but I think I'd make a run down to Target or Bed Bath and Beyond and pick one out IF I was even concerned.... because I suspect you're right Jim, it probably just misses some certification standard.

I would contact Thor customer service and ask them to send me the shower curtain and I'd replace it myself, if that's all that's involved with the recall.

This.

When my washer pump was bad I contacted Thor and they sent out a new pump. Two bolts out and back in and I was done.

Angry

Do you have a name of who you spoke with at Thor? I haven't gotten my letter yet but I like the idea of doing it on my time without having to make a 70 mile round trip for a "15 minute fix". My coach goes to the shop on Oct. 4th for some other warranty repair. If I don't have letter by then I'll see if they can take care of while it's there.........any bets they won't - because I won't have the letter by then?

If it is an official recall, my experience is the manufacturers will not send out parts for self install. They require that the coach go to a dealer for application of the recall because they have to report the numbers back to the government and they will not be held responsible for folks getting the parts and not putting them on.

The best bet is to call the dealer and ask them to order the parts before you take the coach in for recall application. In the case of the step recall, Thor sent out the letters well before Lippert had the parts available for shipping.

Again, this is my experience with recalls through multiple manufacturers.

Bad news. Found out today that Tim Rhoads just left Thor. Back to the drawing board on finding someone as responsive as Tim.

Got my 2016 ACE 30.1 back from the dealer today. I had the shower door/curtain replaced along with some other things.

I regret not taking pictures. The shower door could. It be closed. Apparently the replacement was about 3 inches too small. I can't blame the dealer for Thor sending an incorrect part but, seriously, how could anyone think that the job was completed?

We had them put the old version back on.

Oh, joy, we get to make the 140 mile round trip again.
