Bending it would not do anything that adjusting it higher wouldn't. The big blade might help, what if you did that and put a smaller one on the pass side.?

Thats not a bad idea. I will try and measure this weeknd. Maybe I can make the DS 5 inch long and PS 5 inch shorter. But the DS wiper is still not sweeping far enough to be called normal.

Check for RECALLS ON WIPERS. I know there are recall for wipers on some Thor coaches. Also submit a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as this is a definite Safety Concern !
The wipers on our 17 Challenger 37 TB would only run on S L O W, and then only you rotated the lever switch back and forth to find the Right spot! Thor authorized me to take it to a local Camping World even though our warranty was expired. The tech fixed them in about 20 mins. The wireing plug was plugged into the Motor BACKWARDS! He changed it like it was supposed to be and they've worked great since, also our front power shade has stopped LOOSING it's programing, which it did regularly. My theory on that is they were both on the same relay, or cricut and the backwards wipers, would send a glitch that made it loose programing.
Check for RECALLS !

Well our wipers work fine (has all the speeds plus Intm.) its the design and sweep of the arms (Poor design - cant beleive the GOV allows this). They are not at the correct angle to clear the windshield in front of the driver.

I moved my up some but its still not anywhere near what most people would call normal. I have to sit with my head cocked to the center of the RV to see straight out the window. And that leaves me a big blind spot to my left. Very unsafe - I try to avoid rain when possible.

I have seen some autos that have a lever on the wiper arm on the DS that made the blade straighen out at full extention which would extend the DS sweep another 3 or 4 inches at the top of the blade to cover 99% of the windsheild on the DS.

IMO this is what my Axis need.

IMO, the issue is the wiper mechanism has no adjustment and that the PS is on top. Fn useless. So for now, it's Rain-X and the DS only.

The Recall is for the mechanical portion of the wipers, as I believe I read somewhere they replaced the entire wiper assembly, motor and all, under the recall. Can't remember which model/s it covered.
I believe the ongoing problems with wipers is why Thor covered the Trip to CW. on mine.

I'm guessing no one (Thor) has come up with a solution for this problem yet?

Nope and don't expect it. Buy more Rain-X.

Just completed a 6000 mile trip across the lower United States in our Miramar 34.2. Issues were minimal except for the windshield wiper system. Our second night on the road, in Oxford Alabama during a rainstorm, the entire wiper system failed. We were forced to pull into a parking lot for the night. In the morning we located an RV repair shop about 6 miles away. They were completely familiar with the Thor windshield wiper system. They showed me where the frame that supports the motor, the linkage and the wipers had broken at a weak spot. They told us they have repaired these numerous times. They welded a piece of angle iron to the frame and sent us on our way. We contacted the national transportation safety Board about this, with the agent who we spoke to being very familiar with this problem. We filed a claim with Thor, provided proof of repair which totaled around $600. The bottom line is Thor is sending us a check for $550 for this repair. As far as adjusting the wipers, that was done by just taking the arm off the spindle and moving it to where it fit the best on the window. We never received any type of recall, and only became aware of this issue through this forum. I hope this helps others Who have experienced this problem.

Ok, thanks SuenMike.

What year is your RV? Any pictures of the bracket and the repair?

Thanks.

I have adjusted wipers so ds goes full travel, It looks a little funny at rest. This usually works good but ps gets caught sometimes in wind. I am ordering a 4 in shorter blade, should prevent locking up. Smaller blades would work on both sides, only 2 in shorter on top. less drag on system might prevent breakage. Is it possible to replace tapered bushing (has grooves in it)mine seem weak due corrosion.

I have tried and did all of what you are doing right now, smaller blades adjusting the wipers, it did not work. The system that came with the motorhome is a complete failure and extremely dangerous, it will break again! A complaint to Thor resulted in a whole new windshield wiper system, motor, blades, arms, linkage and the water bottle delivered directly to our home. Our local autobody shop installed this, and Thor paid the cost. This is a recall. Good Luck

Here is the information to file a complaint, the investigator who helped us, his name is Larry Long. He is completely familiar with this recall, and extremely helpful.

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling 6,561 model year 2014-2016 ACE, Hurricane, Challenger, Daybreak, Miramar, Outlaw, and Windsport motorhomes. The vehicles have windshield wiper systems that may have been improperly installed and secured, possibly causing the wipers to fail during use impairing the driver's visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
What to do

TMC will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the wiper system as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 13, 2017.
Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867.

I've submitted a claim with NHTSA for the Vegas and Axis windshield wipers. Never have receive and answer from Thor about them and the Dealer claims there's no fix/nothing wrong "just the way they are"...

We’re not asking for the world here, we are asking for windshield wipers to work on a vehicle that cost a enormous amount of money. If this isn’t a safety issue, where someone could get killed, I don’t know what it is.
