Winterize Lines

I recently blew out all my lines with an air compressor. Put antifreeze in the traps. Is it still necessary to put antifreeze in the lines? I plan on going south in a few weeks and do not want to keep winterizing the unit every time I go south for a few weeks.

This is my third year of just blowing out the lines and anti-freezing the traps. We do get below zero weather and so far no problems. Maybe I'm lucky because it seems most people anti-freeze the lines.

I agree that if you are sure there is no water anywhere it won't be necessary. Plus you don't have to deal with the smell.

If it gets really cold where you are in NY I'd probably go ahead and add the anti-freeze. If you blew out the lines real good (to include the pump) also adding anti-freeze is sort of like wearing a belt and suspenders. One can't be too careful!!

10.00 for antifreeze and 100.00 for a new pump. It boils down to your money and tolerance for risk and/or failure.
