Would YOU?!!

Dear Gentle Forumites
Make an offer?
I finally made my long appointed test drive!
I finally touched and petted an Axis 24.1 in person at Lemons world.

OK I'm still in love although I think it is smaller inside than it seemed on the 'net but I think it will still work for my purposes.
I was disappointed however that the 68" sofa was not in fact able to be slept on top like a real sofa.
IDK if others in fact 68" wide but def too short to lay on.
Def all the threads read and the Axiz Bible r right!
Do something with the suspensions.
Sitting in the turn lane, stopped, itvwould shimmy with cars passing
A nail on the floor hmmmm and the ladder to the top bed would not fit as the hook for the ladder too far apart
I did bring home a piece of foam (pic to follow) from the right fender well close to the box.
A big verticle cut in ceiling but I can live with scratches
BUT (IVE BEEN ACCUSED OF NOT GETTING TO THE POINT,)
for my 8nhour drive, is this the type of quality I can expect?
It is the 2018 model

That actually looks on par for the course for a Thor motorhome.

The button hanging by the front shade is likely the programming button for the shade. Its usually just pushed up and hidden in an open spot there.

What do you mean "lots of foam in the wheelwells"? What kind of foam? like a hard grey sealant or soft "cushiony" foam?

Yeah that foam kind of looks like what the factory service guys used on my unit to seal up some of the seams in the wheelwells.

If the above issues are the only things you find wrong with the unit call yourself lucky..

Which sewer cap? The one on the drain pipe or the one at the bottom of the compartment?

By "Axis bible" are you referring to Ed's crowd sourced manual (found here)? If you haven't read that go download it and read it...now.

I hate to say it, but Jamie is right...
This level of "Wuality Control" (), is about what we've come to expect...
However...

If this is the rig that you can't live without: make sure that your Dealer knows that you're aware of these "issue", and expect to see them fixed prior to delivery.
(By the way: I'm sleeping on a 70" sofa aleeper: you just learn to let your feet dangle a bit...

Good luck; let us know what happens next!

Surprised no one has pointed this out. "Lemon's world" has a dubious reputation. Do a search on the forum here for a lot of discussion. Before you do anything with this dealer, check out some other TX dealers, esp MHSRV.

Please understand that the sales folks just want you to sign on the bottom line (and load you up with a ton of additional expenses). Many of them don't know much of anything about the specific coach you are interested in. Think of them as used car salespeople, only with bigger $$$ on the line.

Several on this forum have replaced the couch on a 24.1 with recliners. That might resolve the shortage.

That sewer cap should be screwed in from the top, not the bottom. It's not uncommon for the setup tech to do that wrong.

Lastly, if you are new to RVing, it is strongly suggested that you rent one or more first. You'll learn a lot about what you like and don't. If you can't find a Vegas to rent, try to rent a Class C with a similar floorplan. This might seem expensive, but it can save you tons of money in the long run.

Hi,
What Mr. Sunshine says it correct.
1) You will be surprised to know that the service dept. and sales dep't don't know each other. Sometimes they are actually a separate company. Once you buy, the salesman is useless. Many service departments. will only work on RVs bought at that dealership. Or tell you they can get to it in 3 months.
2) Unlike cars, RVs aren't covered by lemon laws.
3) Make sure to hire an independent experienced RV mechanic to examine the RV you are interested in buying. A couple hundred spent now can save you lots more after you buy the RV and have driven 2 blocks.

Check out this website RV Service Reviews for reputable RV Mechanics.

Would I? NO. Just my opinions, BUT.....

1) I would not buy anything from "Lemons World".

2) I would not make any deal until EVERYTHING you found on any RV was repaired. Don't drive it off the lot with nothing but a promise that they will fix everything when you bring it back. They do it now or I'd walk.

3) Test drive it again after repairs. Be quiet, listen and feel everything.

4) If there is ANY imperfection you feel willing to just accept now, I guarantee you it will bug you later. If the small voice in the back of your head is telling you something just ain't right, listen to it.

Again, just my opinions.

If in doubt, I’d pass.

If you research the forum, you’ll find many owners end up trading for a larger RV. It’s fairly common — granted others trade down in size. Since there is a difference between “thinking” and “knowing” that the motorhome is large enough, I’d rent first as recommended above. It’s expensive, but a great way to remove uncertainty from the decision.

I’ve rented many times and it can also be beneficial in unexpected ways. If new to motorhomes, you may find that some designs don’t work as well as you expected. As an example, I found I don’t like rear corner beds after trying one. Eventually I may have to compromise on corner beds, but at least I now know what to expect. Fuel economy ($200 fill ups) can also get your attention. It’s one thing for me to know it’s coming, and another to see the pump get there, specially if you fill up twice in one day.

Apts and things apparently cave in and just temp fixed they have developed a Chinese word for good enough
Exported here sad
(says summerwind who is gonna encourage Thor by buying one sub standar)

Yeah bradnkaren
I made lemons world up (lemons) but even though I have and reluctantly shop at the big superstore of wally
Something about lemons world feels off and creepy
Like Wal Mart is just imported mass produced but lemons feels intentional
Maybe the large cost of the item?
And that seeing items in their store that I bought cheaper elsewhere not as a club member when feels strangely obviously thumbing their nose at me like I'm stupid
Caveat emptor
