oh that truly is too bad. Information in there that might save somebody's life....if not the OP, then
others in the future considering the same thing
or a good Samaritan that tries to help that OP or someone else that had rigged up something like this

for other's future reference, there was a discussion going on about the dangers of making a bootleg plug.....replacing a twistlock connection for the service drop into an RV that had failed, with an outlet on the side of the RV, and a male to male extension cord for the drop cable to the post.

I was very lucky years ago with something similar....very lucky.

Oh well....Be safe out there.

Yea, I had originally made a male to male to run a cable from a portable generator to a dryer plug to deal with a forecast major ice storm (which I wound up not using and it turned out to not be as forecast).

A few days later when checking to see if it was safe in terms of the house wiring and all that, I start reading about the dangers of the male/male plug which is obvious when you think about it, but I had never stopped to think about it.

Guess he is not going to fix it and was concerned that once someone is injured all the warnings we gave him and he ignored would get him in trouble.

or he could simply be a little disappointed: Posted what he thought was a great mod that would be more robust than what the factory put in and all everyone does is warn/scold him about the dangers of that mod.

But it's not all bad. Sometimes you make a mod that you think is great and don't realize the full ramifications. I love it when somone comes back and says "did you think about this aspect?" It might just make the mod better, help
you understand your rig better or save your life.

Yeah, I thought about that and almost didn't make any follow-up comments...and even tone down my stance all together.....
but having lived through the experience that I did,
I really don't care about feelings.... as much as I do life.

At this point, I just hope that they heed the warnings and come up with a different solution.
Otherwise, I hope I'm not camping in the site next door to him some day....see a problem as his power pole when nobody is home, and run over to quickly unplug his disconnect.... not knowing that it's a bootleg.
