We had a weird thing happen with our SEIKI. The sound cut off entirely. I was trying to watch off the air TV. For some reason, I unplugged the HDMI cable at the back of the TV. The other end was our Blue Ray player. When I plugged it back in, the TV sound immediately came back on. It makes no sense whatsoever to me, but I'll try it again next time.

Mr Sunshine,

i had to run out there this morning and check, nope it was still on English. I take it to the Dealership Friday for them to run tests on it. Will post what happens with the Extended Warranty.

That would have been too easy. Good luck with the ext warranty.

We don't often stay at parks with cable, but it i frustrating at parks where the cable channels don't all work on the Seiki POS tvs. When Black Friday comes, we'll be shopping for replacements.

Another solution is to buy a $50 converter box. I found one online that had HDMI out. The two downsides are:
  1. You have to run the cable in through a window
  2. You can only use on one TV at a time

I bought one online at amazon. I've yet to try it. it also outputs HDMI an was only $29.99.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Whether or not a cable has to come in a window, apparently depends on the RV. In ours the cable is available inside a cupboard next to the TV. that is also where the DVD player (which we replaced with a blue ray player) is located.

As soon as tbw warranty period is up the Sucky tv's will be replaced. The only use i can find for them is chocks for my lawn mower. I will probably replace with 4k and a sound bar for each.

All,

As the one that started this thread I have my final report:

I had a 9AM appointment to verify the Seiki TV was broken, also had the lights checked on the awning as two or three have burned out and the propane topped off.

Good news, with the extended warranty I got my mute Seike 32" TV replaced with a Proscan 32" at no charge . Also, we will be getting the awning lights replaced (as soon as they arrive) with a $50 Deductible and shipping costs.

I was out of there by 11AM with the replacement TV installed...a good trip to CW of Statesville, once again I am happy with this dealership and Nicole the Parts/Service Manager!

Doc,
Does the new TV have a QAM tuner (I hope)?

PROSCAN PLDED3273A-B 32" LCD TV Specs - CNET

If that is Doc's new TV.

When we had a converter box..before we had a HD TV in RV ...
we simply ran a cable from the interior end of cable which comes in from cable source on post at rv campground, to the converter box, then hdmi cable out to the TV.

I have the Good Sam Extended Service Plan.
After reading and studing the Plan, I pointed out that a TV without sound should fall under Mechanical Breakdown (page 2 Defination#8): "The failure of a Covered Part to preform the function for which it was designed under normal service and usage of the unit due solely to a defect in materials or workmanship as originally manufactured". Somebody must have agreed with me .

I now have a 32" PROSCAN PLDED3273A-E LED TV, a new 1 year manufactures warranty and the remainder of th 5 year extended warranty.

Mo_Mike,

I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy when it comes to things like insurance/warranties. Right now I'm 1 for 1 on my extended warranty, but it's a long way to collecting more than I paid for the warranty!!

And if you do replace it, I personally am partial to Samsung smart TV's. You can get the 32 incher HD 1080P, smart set for mid to high two hundreds. When I replace the Seki's, eventually, it will be with Samsungs.

In my 2016 Vegas 25.3, the outside speaker source can be switched between the rear stereo system and the TV. There are "A" and "B" buttons on the stereo that control where the sound for the outdoor speakers is sourced. I would first check to make sure that the correct speaker channel is selected...it may be on the radio rather than the TV.

Doc -- if it's covered don't let them replace the Seiki with another Seiki. Ask them if you can spend the difference for one with QAM.

Seiki

I bought a 32" Samsung smart tv 1080p on sale in Costco for 179.00. Could not be happier and now get the cable channels at parks that I couldn't before. Saw Seiki tv's at HHGregg 115.00.
