I have a 27 ft ACE and fully understand your problem. I installed the Safe T plus for the Ford chassis and it works fantastic. I can now drive with one hand most of the time unless there is a lot of wind. It was relatively cheap, very easy to self install and calibrate. It is a bolt on and you can take it off if you ever sell your rig. It also is warranted for life. Look at the web site and the video there. Hopefully this helps. NO I do not work for Safe T Plus lol

update 2014 Hurricane 27k fixes.. Ok, did the CHF front and rear, had a blue ox trac bar put on the rear. Now it drives like a truck, and you have an idea of where it is headed... time/money well spent. Done with the handling mods.

Glad to hear you are now in the group that will enjoy their rig and not white knuckle it down the road. The trick is time and investment and know were to throw your money to fix the problem.....enjoy

I put on the RSS Steering stabilizer. Loaded the RV how I would have it going down the road (weight distribution affects alignment) took to get aligned with that weight $150 and they charged me $125 to install the stabilizer at true neutral.


I am not sold on the rear system, just seems to me it pushes some torque onto the frame, and $500 for the kit is a bit high. I would go with air bag helpers before that.

It sounds like these might not be aligned properly. You may need to see if the dealer can add some positive caster while still staying within Ford's specs. I had this same type of issue with my F350 and that resolved the issue. The dealer aligned it to Ford's specs and it was still like driving a motorboat on the road. I asked the dealer to add a little bit of positive caster while staying with their specs and it was resolved.

Here is a link that describes caster and you will understand why this brings your tires to center. It's like a grocery cart. You are pushing it from behind but the wheels should go straight because of positive caster.

Glad to hear a steering stabilizer helped your handling issues. We also had a vast improvement handling when adding the stabilizer but I would caution you to be sure that your alignment is also correct. We put on the stabilizer when our coach had about 400 miles. After reading on this and other forums about so many RVers finding their alignment way off I decided to have ours done even though it drove OK. Sorry I waited, at 1800 miles we had it aligned and it was found to have "tow out" of more than 1/2"! Now it can be driven with one hand and I'm not tearing up the front tires.
