Adding a foot locker for storage.

In the fe22, the so-called walk around queen bed works great if you are sleeping by the door. From my side it is a slow process to roll out of bed. With the mattress topper I need a step so we are adding a step that will hold shoes, then a 14x48 in box that is 14 in. deep and hinged. This will hold long guns or blankets. The third box wraps back toward the headboard and will be 18in. tall. Click image for larger version

That's a great answer to the topper issue of the bed being so high. It will be perfect for our Axis 25.4. Consider it stolen, thanks!

I will post more images as the man gets it built. He hides when I start sketching out plans.

This is the 48" foot looked made from 1/2" birch plywood. Then we (royal we) will make the small short step that we can slide slippers into, then make the smaller back box. We paint everything with a gloss enamel before sliding them in place.

Dry fitting the footlocker and the step piece. The step will be 7" tall with an opening to slide in slippers. The locker will have antirattle slips between it and the wall. He wants to be able to slide it out if he has to work on stuff. We head to Disney next Sunday, so he is being pressured to get R done.

Very nice! It could also double as a pet step for those of us with little dogs.

This is with 2 of 3 boxes in place. I don't think I will get the 3rd box, I will have to settle with a square well of space. I am also having to wait for the slides for my tv trays under the sofa. I don't ask for much, I just ask for everything.😎

That looks like the slide is out. What will you do when the slide is in?

I played around with different things to store on the new space. I decided on the iron, ironing board, and 2 folding chairs that were over the cab. It is starting to free up some space, and it works helping me climb up over the mattress topper.

It doesn't effect the box at all, the bed slides over it.

Over 4 in. Of clearance. Could have made a taller box and move the back outlet up, but that plan was nixed by my husband.

Just wondering where your low point drain valves? My valves would be behind box, is husband planning on sliding out if valves are behind?
Thanks

We don't have drains, but the boxes slide out. I will get him to screw it into the bed, but he can take them out if he needs to. You can leave a cut out for outlets and to access panels.
