Shower door modification

Hi all,
We have a 2018 24’ Chateau. We love our Chateau except for one frustrating thing. We have found that it’s almost impossible to use the shower because the plastic door does not stay on the track. If you finally get it on the track, the above track rod falls off and hits you in the head as soon as you try to close the door. If you miraculously do get to close the door, it’s impossible to open it after your shower, so hopefully you didn’t lock the bathroom door and someone can come in and try to open it for you from the outside.

We are thinking of either gluing or somehow fastening the upper track so it stays put and together, or just taking down the miserable thing and putting up a rod with a shower curtain. It’s just so disappointing because our old 1996 RV had a shower curtain and the bathroom got soaked whenever the shower was used, so we were thrilled to see the Chateau had a shower door that had the appearance of the keeping the bathroom dry while showering. Has anyone found a solution to this? Please help!

I have the same shower door. Mine was doing the same thing. I used some silicone to secure the top rail. Haven't had any problems since applying it. It is a bit tricky getting it to lock and unlock but I haven't seen a reason to be concerned about it.

Thank you Brad. Where did you apply the silicone? In the little square areas on both sides where the rod Slips in?

Yes. I bought a small tube of clear kitchen and bath silicone and applied it to the end caps. We've probably spent around 20 nights total in the RV since then and haven't seen any other issues.

our dealor glued it and put a screw at the corner so it wouldn't come apart again. No problems with it now.

Thank you for your reply. We have been thinking of doing that, but have been concerned that if the door gets off the track it might be impossible to get it back on track without being able to move the rod. Maybe though, by having the rod attached to the wall, the door doesn’t continually come off the track. Is that the case?
Also, has it been easier to open the door from the inside now that the rod is permanently attached?
