What is the advantage of an inverter if you have a generator?

You dont have to run the Genny.... quiet, saves fuel, use solar properly.

What Long&Winding said...

You can watch any one TV or all at the same time without being plugged into shore power or running the generator.

So if you’re boondocking, tailgating or at the beach, it’s nice and quiet.

Also, one reason we are installing one, is to tap the ALTERNATOR CHARGING while the coach is in motion to be able to charge laptops, run a tv, and also use the INVERTER 120v to run the REFRIGERATOR without using propane while in motion.

Kind of like the idea of propane valve being "off" while in motion.

Im sure you will, Just take your time. Let us know if you have any questions.

Did you get the Aims remote switch as well? If not... you might want to consider it.

You can see in one of the pictures where I added the 12v to the fuse box.
Quick question, on your picture of the CONVERTER which POSITIVE wire did you add?

The one on the left or the one on the right?

I know, "questions, questions, questions…"

DOH! Yeah, now it's moved up the list.
(Fixing why the black tank sensors read Full is 1st priority).

Your talking about adding the 12 v positive from you inverter to the fuse panel right?

On the factory DC circuit board you will see an empty lug on the Bottom right (but it dont mater which side its on - they are connected to together).

4 Gauge wire just barely fits.

My new PD4655 Did not have this lug so I had to add a spliter.

Refrigerator on an AC source

Keep in mind that the refrigerator, while running on AC, is very inefficient taking around 300 watts for it's heating coil. As long as your are "in use" and charging the batteries from the Engine generator (through the BIRD switch) you may be able to run this way for a long time with the engine running.

Thats true but I tend run on propane and when hooked up to shore power it will auto switch to AC (bypasses 12v unless you have your inverter hooked up wrong). So only things on 12V will be whats on my fuse panel and most are low voltage so the converter will still be charging batteries.

Yeah, I should be able to run my little 6 cu frig. on "engine" juice only while traveling.... I just need to give it a good test.
