SuperSprings?

I saw Joe's thread about SumoSprings and looked into them for our coach. The SS site also showed a SuperSpring option that increased rear load capacity by 4600# and decreased body roll by 30%. They also look to be very easy to install. Anybody have experience with these on a F53 chassis?

For most installs on the F53 it seems that there is a year break where you have to drill holes. Not sure if you would run into same issue with a Super Sumo Spring or not. If I recall correctly 2008 and older some Sumo applications bolt on with existing holes, but newer have to be drilled. There could be an install video for those on line.

Please post results. I still have almost 2 weeks to wait for my install then another couple weeks after that before we leave the area we are in. My buddy who has a different model Challenger, thinks I am wasting my money and they won't improve the handling.

If the Sumo Spring which we installed on our F450, front and rear, perform on our upcoming long trip as they have to local areas...we will be pleased.
Our chassis has a different spring from the F53 chassis.

Marketing claims aside, be careful to place information in proper context.

While combined springs may have greater load capacity, the rear axle and tires will remain the same, and will likely still limit the safe load capacity. Ford selects springs based on GVWR (and axle capacity) so gaining 4600 pounds should be looked at in more detail.

On the other hand, claim of decreased body roll seems reasonable as would be the case with just about any stiffer spring.

Suspension tuning (for any vehicle) is not black and white issue like some try to make it. Improving one area will likely make another worse, so overall what works for one person won't be the right answer for another -- depending on what they are trying to correct.

For example, on smooth roads stiffer springs will reduce body roll and should therefore help with windy conditions, but at same time stiffer springs can make ride harsh or bouncy on rough roads.

There are a few design traits that are a win-win, but they have to be built into the motorhome from the onset.

Hello Joe
Speaking from actual experience, not conjecture, on my Vegas there was a considerable improvement in sway of the coach in wind and passing trucks. I do expect to put them on the Windsport when it arrives and hopefully I will get the same results. I do notice that they are a lot more expensive for the Windsport.
